Riz
Easy... try using the little button on the drivers side pillar... right at the bottom of your seat.... disable interior motion sensors.... Hope it works and its not a door release sensor thats packed in... Riz
dazr32
i had thought of that one but it says luggage compartment open so it looks like the boot solenoid has got cold (poor thing ) i should take it a horlicks out. am i screwed or have i got to get in and lock the doors manually inside then crawl out of the boot and lock it manually. i can do it but i would love to be fly on the wall in the morning when the missus is trying to get in. B15ETJ
Sounds like the pipe or the connection to your rear washer has either come off or split sending water onto the switch usually happens because of lack of concentrated screen wash. To lock the car without the alarm go in the passenger side and lock the drivers door with the button. Come out passenger side and push button down and pull the door handle out . The car should now be locked without the alarm on.should give everybody a good night's
dazr32
cheers david this place never ceases to amaze me, i will check the hose to the rear wash wipe tomorrow as well but i cant say that i have noticed any loss of fluid or wetness in the boot. nevertheless thank you for the help, i have got blackjax fitted and that has its own alarm on it so i am not concerned about it not being protected. mattcony
[ QUOTE ] Sounds like the pipe or the connection to your rear washer has either come off or split sending water onto the switch usually happens because of lack of concentrated screen wash. [/ QUOTE ] Ill second that as its happened to me, open the boot and go turn on the rear wash jet and see what happens, think you may find a 50/50 split in water to the screen and water pooring out of the boot trim. If your handy you can remove each screw from inside the pull down handle holes, then pop off the trim for the boot lining and unplug the wire going into the boot switch lock, then get it into VW if you still have any warrenty left and get it fixed as a new rear wiper is expensive. cheers matt
dazr32
thinking about it lads it has got to be that cos when i opened the boot before there was water all over the inside of the tailgate around the cappings that cover the locking plug for the boot lid so the only feasible place it could have come from was inside the car, and i did notice that the rear window wasnt washing as well as normal but put it down to a dodgy wiper . obviously not. that would also explain the dash telling me that the boot is open when infact it wasnt as well. Oatz
this is the most common problem known to a MKIV golf (basically the water in the pipe freezes then you try to pump more water into a frozen pipe which causes pressure to build-up causing the pipe to either burst off or split (hence water in the tailgate), all to do with an ill fitting pipe (not tight enough diameter) check out the quick fix and cheap/free remedy on UK-mkiv site and don't waste your cash at a dealers
Ritey
I think its a VW thing, the Polos and I believe Lupos do the same thing
dazr32
just took the rear apron off the inside of the tailgate and sure enough the pipe has uncoupled itself right at the connection, the padding on the rear apron is soaking. i just clipped the pipe back into position and it seems fine now although no water came through when i operated the rear wash wipe probably cos it has frozen again now, i will give it a decent splash of additive tomorrow to dilute the water mix,10,50 at night is not the most ideal time to try and rectify a problem with your car as the locking mechanism tends to ice up from having too much water residue on it which can lead to a few expletives being thrown around as you free up the return spring to allow the mechanism to recoil properely thus being able to actually click the boot shut.
