Tizzy
What is it with people! Three times on the way home from work tonight muppets flashing me! (and yes my xenons have been checked for adjustment) It's not like they're uncommon these days so what's wrong with these people? I'm the one being dazzled when they keep flashing me!! - rant over now......

FreightDog
have you had them flash the rear fog lights at you. Its normally the old people that have flashed me in their rover 75's. Also i get people slow down when you approach them from behind, must think im the old bill.
Merlot
Audi Xenons' are about the brightest. Merc ones, for eg, are far less useful. I remember getting my B5 S4 Avant in 1998 when hardly anyone had Xenons - I got flashed everytime I went out in the dark.

hashluck
I was getting flashed more than normal recently and it turned out they were out of alignment. Figured it out when switching to main beam made no difference!
whimsical_chris
Maybe even if they are set correctly, you should lower them a notch or two to help your fellow road users. c
IanHo
Never had anyone flash me with my Xenon's. Just quickly move out of my way (not). Chris it's difficult to adjust Xenon's yorself as they automatically adjust for level and there is no manual override. Even to ajust them using the adjusters you have to have VAGCOM or take them to the Stealers to set them to the ajustment position! Sorry if you already know all that, not trying to teach you to suck eggs.

[/ QUOTE ] I had that once, thing is I was quite a way behind the car in front and there was no way my lights were dazzling him (or her). With Xenons the beam pattern is so sharp you can see if you're dazzling other road users at night. I couldn't work out what the drivers problem was.. whimsical_chris
Ian Cheers, sorry didnt know that, assumed that the would be similar to mine with the load adjustment gizmo for when I have lardy chums in the back of the car ;-) Seems like a bit of a gaff to not be able to stop them from upsetting people / or adjusting them up for late night jaunts etc Cheers c
whimsical_chris
[ QUOTE ] the one being dazzled when they keep flashing me!! - rant over now...... [/ QUOTE ] Yup that does seem pretty stupid, I think I cant see so I will intentionally blind the oncoming vehicle ! At least flash the lights off and on rather than up to high beams !!! Wonder if thats legal to turn them off ????? Oh well, nearly summer c
P_G
Amazing really since Audi normal headlight bulbs are probably the weakest going yet Audi Xenons are the brightest around. Mind you this in Range Rovers are pretty blinding, but I think that's more to do with them being so high set that actual brightness. I get flashed too, I tend to switch lights on and off and then full beam just to intentioanlly blind them, cheeky bar stewards!!
Milo
Graeme, I spotted you through the rain and spray approaching at warp speed last week and can vouch for the fact your xenons are bright
NewNiceMrMe
I used to get flashed all the time in my Jaguar X-Type. The lights couldn't self level below the height of the clouds. They were fecking useless for driving. Great for plane spotting mind you.
Biscuits
Just a tip, don't switch Xenons OFF AND BACK ON again... it's more frindly than flashing your main beam, but discharge lamps HATE hot starting and it'll shorten your lamp life. warrie
i had this happen to me last week - had someone put their full beam on and started flashing me, they soon stopped when i whacked my full beam on (i think they felt a bit silly). IanHo
It's a European law apparently HID (High Intensity Discharge) aka Xenon lights have to be fitted with self-levelling and washing functions if factory fitted. Probably so the manufacturers can justify the extra cost ! Added bonus is they look cool when you fire them up and they self-level so worth the extra for that alone! Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] What is it with people! Three times on the way home from work tonight muppets flashing me! [/ QUOTE ] Cannot see why people have a problem with xenons. They are ice cool and way easier on the eye than halogen. People with badly adjusted headlights annoy me most, but if you flash them, 99% of the time they won't have a clue what you are on about. Idiots with their fogs on however will, and if enough people [like me] took the effort to flick their main beam stalk at them, they'd soon turn them off... IanHo
Sorry have to disagree Xenon's are way cool + added safety benefits etc. etc. Driving any other car now without Xenon's you really notice the difference, like going back to candle light. Milo
I'm looking forward to getting my xenons and I don't care they effectively cost me £700! They look cool, they're a lot better than the standard lamps and I think in 3 years time when I come to sell the car, along with Sat Nav, a lot of buyers will have them on their 'must have' lists. IanHo
I was actually referring to the dual Xenon lighting functionality for both the dipped and main beam, why what did you think I meant? UBM will be along in a minute to lower the tone even more no doubt.
