stevebower
Anyone have the wiring connections for RNS-D (CD SatNav) so that I can get my Nokia install to mute the radio etc? Cheers Steve
craigyb
When you take out the RNS-D the connections are written on the lid. Tel Mute is on the 8 pin power connector pin 2 Tel + / Tel - are the green and black wires going to the 20 pin connector pins 7 & 12 respectively. They are in the middle of the 20 pin connector. These will be connected to your phone prep if you have one in the armrest. Connect your speaker wires from your new phone kit control brain to these two wires after disconnecting them from the old one.
peterb
Connector III (black 8-pin), pin 2 is the mute. Phone audio input goes to pin 7 (+) and pin 12 (-) of the 20-pin connector.
mb
I have VW MFD so not sure how similar it is ! I wired up the mute pin (no pin in the VW connector) to my Nokia car kit mute wire and that mutes the stereo for calls. Looking at you mentioning the Tel + & Tel - pins are these for the audio output ? Why I ask is I have a speaker at the moment but wondered if it would be better to feed the audio through the MFD rather than the Nokia speaker ? Thanks Martin
craigyb
Yes it would, connect those pins if you have them.

stevebower
Follow-up: I have pins 7&12 (20-way) missing. Any idea where I can get the connectors? Steve
Paul
they were on mine too Steve, they are the tiny pins. I soldered up the ends of the cables, poked them straight through the harness plug where the pin should be and made contact that way, cable tying them in place. It works a treat. the missing pin for mute, i got from an old auto leads adaptor, and fitted that to the harness.
mb
I assume you mean the connectors in the plugs ? I had teh same problem as although there was a mute pin on my stereo VW hadn't put a connector into the plug so it didn't work ! VW sell "repair connectors" they come in a variety of sizes - this is a PN for one of them I think it may be the right size (000979131A) if not at least your parts guy will be looking in the right place for you - they are double ended so buy 1/2 the number you need - cost less than £1 and have the wire already connected. stevebower
Found some part nos (N-103-357-06, N-103-358-07 (larger wire capacity?)) for the pins here: http://www.navplus.us/forum/viewtopic.php?p=508&sid=48de40cadc84931106161f41729e5e25 Lots of other info too, including the unmistakeable wisdom of craigyb! mb
If these are just the pins you may find it easier to go with the "repair wires" rather than crimp your own - either way this will sort out your problem !
