GTiMK5
You should try and get down to a dealers and have a look at them both. Personally I would choose the shadow blue but there are plenty on here who would choose the steel grey, its all down to an indivduals personal taste. What are you going to do if half say grey and half say blue?

Snoopy
Shadow blue is a colour that does not photograph at all well. It looks different each time. Heres a few for you
Snoopy
Also heres a longish video with one on it worth watching as you can see the way it changes colour with the light. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6510828125572326787&q=gti+mkv
Snoopy
Some more posted recent As you can see depending on the light and camera it can change quite abit best to see the colour in real life IMHO.

N3WOB
That last one looks miles better, 3 door definately an improvement too. The rear discs look noticeably larger than those on the IV

jonathansargent
Ultimately your call shakey! I am buying from Matt at Motor Depot too - and going for Shadow blue. When I bought three weeks ago my choice was shadow blue, silver or black. So I went for the blue. The gray is gorgeous - but my present car (Celica T Sport) is grey albeit paler, so wanted a change... I do think sometimes the shadow blue is dull i see the odd one around and feel disapponted - then I see it in the sun and it is fantastic!! When I have got my car from motor depot I will post a full description of the deal here for everyone to read. So far I think they are great!
