Hi Guys - need some advice please.

Today I ordered and a paid a £500 deposit on an A4 Avant 2.0 TDI S-line in Phantom Black, available for shipment now from the docks in Germany.

The price on the quotation included a Lifestyle pack

consisting of Accousting rear parking, Symphony radio ii and load area pack. This option was FOC to the dealer and passed onto myself FOC.

This afternoon I was informed that the dealer had made a mistake and the Lifestyle pack was not acually on the car specification.

Although this Lifestyle pack was included on an emailed stock sheet for the car and later on the quotation.

Where do I stand?

on the quotation it states "quotations are valid for 28 days and are subject to changes in manufacturer terms, specification and taxation rates.)

1)Do I insist the dealer supply the car as purchased to include the lifestyle pack (not sure how this is possible after the car is built)

2) Or do I ask for a £700 reduction in price to compansate me for not having the options.

3) Do I order a factory build model and wait 12 weeks and ask for a £700 reduction in Price.

Any advice greatly welcomed.

Regards

Hmm, how come the option was FOC to the dealer. Was this the only saving they offered you on list price?

IMO the first thing to consider is how much you got off list price to begin with. For example, did they offer you a big discount because they wanted to shift pre-ordered stock or did they try to sell you the story that you should pay close to full whack as the car was available straight away?

And it also depends on how imprtant the Lifestyle pack is to you? Are you keen enough that you are willing to wait 12 weeks? Or are you in more of a hurry to get a new car? Either way, you should make it clear that the dealer has let you down and should offer a better deal. If they don't play ball, specify that you need to deal with the sales manager from now on and keep whinging 169144-ok.gif

This has given you the perfect opertunity to go back the dealer and tell him "Thanks but no thanks". You well within your rights to do so too.

He'll then be in a fix as your car will have been a January order and if you cancel it means he'll start February on -1 sales.

If you want the anyway, you should be able to negotiate either a discount or some dealer fit goodies.

If you want a different car... I'd suggest sticking with the same dealer, but go down the route of "Cancel this one and I'll think about waht I want to do"... he'll be very keen to get another car for you.

It's all down to goodwill with the dealer and Audi UK. I was told they can alter the spec right up until the daythey hand it over, albeit they have to inform you and give you the right to cancel.

When the mix up occurred on my order regarding the seats, I was left facing a £400 bill to upgrade the interior to what I originally thought and was implied I was getting.

After some well mannered negotiation with the dealer who recognised it wasn't my fault, they stumped up half of the cost. Some more polite emails and conversations with Audi UK saw them pay the other £200.

Personally I wouldn't cancel and go for a factory order. Talk to the dealer and see what they can do in way of a goodwill gesture, especially the parking sensors. Also speak to Audi Customer Services and see if you can get them to offer something (dealer fit options).

Without factory ordering, I can't see you getting the Symphony II. Maybe get the dealer to give you parking sensors and try to get Audi to stump up for a CD changer in the glovebox - both can be dealer fitted 169144-ok.gif

I initially left a deposit on a 'from stock' Avant that was a close match to the spec I wanted. The salesman agreed I could cancel and get a full refund if I changed my mind. After sleeping on it, I decided it was a compromise I wasn't willing to make. So even though I could have had the car within a week, I ended up making a factory order to the exact spec I wanted.

The way I looked at it was I would always have this niggling thought that I had settled for second best. I couldn't live with that.

It was an awful wait, nearly 12 weeks, but it was 100% worth it.

The Lifestyle pack was an Audi offer, free of charge at the time. I think you are well within your rights to cancel and get all your deposit back. But if you're willing to lose the extras, then negotiate as hard as you can. You need compensating for the lost extras and then some, imho. Whether that be monetary, or in the form of retro-fit goodies, it's up to you and what they will offer.

Haggle hard and be prepared to walk away, and let them know it! 169144-ok.gif

I think they have stopped the lifestyle pack now.

If you are getting a good discount then maybe that will help but I think you are fully entitled to have your deposit back unless they can persuade you with some freebies.

If it were me, I would request the dealership bear the cost of those options on a factory order , or give you a discount on that car by the pack amount.

I know my dealership well and they can do both of those options if necessary...(generally I mean)
