Petem95
Ive recently bought a 2002 A4 2.0, and Im pretty pleased with the car, however Ive just noticed that on one side of the car the black metal part on the rear door - between the window part which raises and lowers, and the fixed piece of glass - has rust bubbles on?!! I was obviously quite surprised to see this and Im wondering if anyone else has seen this on an A4 and if this would be covered under the cars 12year bodywork warranty?!! cheers! BenjaminTDI
Take it to your local stealers, might be worth phoning them before hand, to make sure there is someone available to fill out a 'rust' sheet and measure the paint thickness. Rust claims usually take quite a while to go through, so get it looked at asap, and if they decide to honour a claim, it might take some time. I honestly don't think you'll have any trouble, although factors do come into it, such as 'has the door been repaired sir' 'was it an audi repair sir'. I would answer no to the first one which would avoid the second Good luck chap - don't waste any time either as it will get worse quickly!
UBM
I had paint bubble (corrosion under the lacquer) on my 2002 A4 1.9TDI Sport. It took forever for them to repair it, but it was eventually done under warranty. It's worth presisting. They have to send a "paint specialist" out (yeah right) and govia Audi in Germany to agree the warranty work.
Petem95
Thanks for the advice, Im going to give the dealer a bell and see if theyre interested in sorting it... or rather nag them until they'll have a look!
Nelson_R32
The rusting 'triangles' on the rear doors are only covered under the 3 year warranty period as they are not part of the bodywork (i.e. not a body panel). They are NOT easy to replace, you need to take the interior door card to replace them.
the911sc
err not true!.. I had mine changed on my S4 under the corrosion warranty. I also had all my chrome trims around the windows changed FOC since they went matt and blotchy.. Take it to the dealership...
UBM
Yeah - my alu window trims were replaced too. It's the feckin audi washer fluid, which was corroding the alu! Now I use it diluted, no problems!
the911sc
I heard it was the graphite in the rubbers. Seems audi looked into this since loads of A8's were getting this and it was found to be the material in the rubbers itself. Especially bad if you leave your car out all the time but mines been fine since and it is garaged...
