durtydurty
Have a Radio Cassette Concert HU ( one with the volume button central to the HU ) with CD changer in the boot, and bought a Concert HU with a single CD for when I get lazy and want to quickly change the CD over without going to the boot. Couple of things wrong with it once its installed. 1. Have to turn it off and on again to get the front speakers to work. 2. Sometimes the BOSE sign comes up on the radio display sometimes it doesnt 3. Only the display illuminates not the buttons etc at night 4. Its grey and the rest of my dash is black...I like everything the same!!! The wiring has been chopped around a little bit by the previous owner by the looks of things but would like to know if the stereo is entirely imcompatible or if its the loon who hacked the wires around, is there any way of finding out for sure? peterb
What you've done is swap from a Concert (I) to a Concert II. I believe that all of the ... II series HUs expect a lot of the control signals to come over CAN bus. I don't think the original Concert even had a CAN bus connection. The signals which would be expected over the CAN would include ignition on/off, lights on/off and, probably, road speed. What model/year car do you have? If it's a relatively late build (2002+?) it may be that the CAN bus signals are there, but just not connected to the HU. Otherwise, it may be necessary to install a CAN bus simulator in order to obtain full functionality. These units can be obtained from ebay sellers. durtydurty
Its a 2000 model. Im tempted to sell it on purely as its the wrong colour!! Would a Chorus tape deck work?, I prefer this style as it looks more modern and suits the car's dash and I could hopefully get one in black to suit the rest of the dash.
