Car went into the stealers on Monday for an air bag light and the dash lights not working properly when you put the ignition on the red ligts behind the dials don't always work switch on the lights everythings fine.

So the air bag, no problem reset and no charge 169144-ok.gif

The dash lights, no short, no loose plug no errors full stop, so looking at the actual cluster thing is they have never changed 1 on an 8 and according to Audi uk it's rare, upshot is if it is the cluster it's going to cost just shy of a grand shocked.gif car now booked in for all next week to explore further and make sure it is the cluster before commencing and will take approx 10 days to come from Germany. tongue.gif

Anyone heard or had similar???

Hi,

my previous A8 was a '52 2.8Q Sport. Had a problem that the dash lights flickered and sometimes went off.

The dash lights have what appeared to be an auto dim function that brightened them in bright daylight and dims them as dusk falls. Bizarrely, if it goes into a tunnel

the dash lights would shut off completely because it sensed that it was too dark and the headlamps should be switched on.

As I didn't have auto lights, of course I had to turn them on by hand - point being dash lights went off completely until you turned on headlights or came out of tunnel.

The dash lights used to flicker a lot as part of this process and in the end I got fed up and asked the dealer to fix under warranty.

Guess what? The fix is too replace the whole instrument head unit!

Sounds similar on your, and yes it took weeks to get the head unit and they will need to see your V5 as well.

Cheers Adam

I do not have such lights but recently got LED dashlights. They are working pretty well
