UBM
Unlocks the boot on the saloon, but does feck all on my avant....
BenjaminTDI
I think on mine it opens the boot but doesnt actually spring it all the way open, it just makes it so you can lift it up without having to press the thing that you would usually. [/ QUOTE ] Yup, that's exactly what it does. Just ran out to check You have to hold the button down for about 2 seconds though, I guess this is so you don't accidentally press it while driving. Sparky
It also isolates the boot from the main alarm so you can open the boot while the car remains locked, chuck your stuff in, and then when shutting the boot, the alarm reverts back to full protection. Sponge
Mine does that too - comes in very handy sometimes. However, my key fob stopped working last night! I managed to get it locked after a few attempts. But then tried to open it again - nothing. I hope can get into the car, I need to get to the hospital later... Sponge
[ QUOTE ] Sounds like you need new keys, like the rest of us B7owners! [/ QUOTE ] So lets get this right - is there a recall on these keys? Can anyone supply a recall number or equiv. so I can quote it in any conversation with the dealer? I've had maybe 2 or 3 instances where the key briefly malfunctioned since I picked the car up in October.

Phone your dealer and they should know what the problem is, if they say 'there isnt' a recall sir' then say you want them replaced under warranty. Best to get them replaced ASAP. allroadman
There is a Service workshop action the number of which is 157C3 dated 22nd Nov 2005 for vehicles chassis 8E*5 > 8E*6002110. Not a recall as it is not classed as a safety issue but it is a known problem fix.
