vindaloo
I now have my build date (last week March) & need to firm up the spec within next 5 days or so. A few questions on the Audio options. Anyone know what the standard set-up sounds like? Does it support MP3 playback? Is the RCD500 a lot better? Does the RCD500 & in-dash changer support MP3? Is the 10 speaker pack Dynaudio or is the Soundpack upgrade better amp + Dynaudio? Is the £675 extra for the best spec really worth it or can aftermarket do better for less money? Many apologies for all the questions
rs32
have RCD500 + soundpack. It sounds pretty good (very clear and punchy) but does make the doors rattle a little bit with certain type of bass. that's the doors' fault though, not the speakers. An aftermarket head unit would improve things, not sure about amps & dynaudio but it all seems to work fine. also previous posts on the MP3 question seem to indicate that it won't cope properly, see here HTH
scillyisles
I have the DVD Sat Nav system with 6 CD armrest mounted changer. Only the 6 CD changer plays CDs, the navigation drive slot is only used for the Nav DVD map disc. The 6 CD armrest changer does not play MP3s (at first I thought it did as the dealer demonstrated what he said was an MP3 disc - I think it was just a normal CD-R burnt in audio format.) Sound quality wise I find it very good and it compares very well to say the Harman Kardon system in BMW or BOSE in Audi or Mercedes. Normally I upgrade my audio in cars but I cannnot see the need here.
