[Audi A3/S3] A3 DSG re-mapping

I know that the subject of re-mapping has been covered many times but I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any horror stories regarding re-maps.

I am thinking about getting my A3 2.0TDI DSG done, I have read plenty of good reports about it but not knowing anything about engines etc I wanted to know if anybody has anything go wrong or anything to look out for before I take the plunge.

Any advice would be welcome.

Having read many reports on the subject I would say that Audi are very, very conservative on the performance of their engines. They probably design them for over 200K. So if you go to a reputable tuner and tune an extra 30bhp it isn't going to make much difference over the lifetime you have the car.

That is my opinion no more

I don't think remapping the 2.0tdi is a problem - heard some really positive reports, however the DSG box maybe due to its maximum torque rating.

I spoke to AMD a while back and they were looking into what could be done.John

I'm running a Revo Stage 1 remap with a dyno chart to prove 187bhp/293ft/lb torque and it is fine - better fuel economy (will return 55mpg @ a steady 80 on the motorway). Instantaneous punch and seriously quick.

I also have Revo's Stage 2 remap for 202.6bhp/287ft/lb which is even quicker the downside being that the fuel economy isn't brilliant.

I seem to recall reading that the torque limit of the DSG box is 330ft/lb so well inside the upper limit. cool.gif

Whatever remap you choose make sure of the following:

1) It is invisible to the dealer diagnostic equipment

2) That the remap is driver switchable - so you can revert to the stock map before it goes into the dealer or a colleague (if company car) or wife/girlfriend/brother drives it. Revo use their SPS switch for this. It would be a real pain if you had to go back to the place that installed the remap for a reset to std each time you put the car in for service wouldn't it?

3) You drive your remapped car respectfully, if you drive like an idiot and without mechanical sympathy you WILL break something expensive.

4) Enjoy (lots) 169144-ok.gif169144-ok.gif169144-ok.gif
