sapphire1616
The parking sensors have started to play up. Quite often when selecting reverse it emmits a permanent beep so I have to hit the switch to kill it. Ocasionally it works ok. Is there a way of checking anything on the sensors rather than putting myself in the hands of the stealers?

crasher
Have you checked that they are clean? I had a problem with my beamer's rear sensors - turned out they were caked with mud and it was causing havoc. Quick scrub down cured the problem. sapphire1616
Thanks for the info. I will give them a wash at the weekend and see if it helps. Worse thing is I have become so reliant on them! How did I manage to park before I got the A8?
fudge
I have exactly the same problem with my S8 - initially they worked intermittently then stopped alltogether with the beep you describe (as detailed in handbook!). I had guessed that my problem is one of the front sensors because one has been hit by a stone (or something similar) and had been displaced. Sure enough, when I checked with VAGCOM it confirmed "front center right sensor faulty" exactly the one I suspected. I have not got round to replacing it yet because you need to take the bumper off to reach the back of the sensor. Incidentally, does anyone know if I can disable the front sensors in VAGCOM so that the back ones work?
