peterb
[ QUOTE ] and i did make her laugh a few times does that count?! [/ QUOTE ] Depends! Was she laughing with you, or at you? Ah well, just wait and see - I'm sure it wasn't as bad as it seemed to you!
Soapsuds
I wouldnt worry - these people are human and understand about nerves. Phone interview / conference calls etc. etc. are all horrible, as you have no face-to-face feedback and it can be tricky (i hate conference calls - just had a 1hr 30min one!!!). You will be fine! I'm positive your CV will shine through and you will get the chance to meet face-to-face to express your skills and presonality better!
Omi
More likely she was seeing if you were reading from prepared notes or whether you were genuinely being interviewed live.
LupoBabe
i hope thats the case... she was laughing with me... it was all a bit odd really... i had started writing down what i was guna say but she rang me 15mins early so i hadnt really got much down... are u suposed to plan a phone interview? eventhough i knew i had it to day it felt soo out of the blue! *hugs*
Mollox
Don't worry Sam, I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you think. If it cheers you up, we interviewed someone last week and she was absolutely rubbish throughout. Didn't really have a clue about anything and then at the end of the interview we asked if there was anything she'd like to ask us (as you do, and a great chance to make amends). She thought for a moment, mumbled "hmm, no, I think we've covered everything" and then looked up and said "oh yes, what's the company's policy on piercings?" Omi
Is it really an interview if you're reading from a script though? - Personally, if I was interviewing, I'd want to get a genuine idea of the person, rather than an idea of what they're like with a week to think about their response. Those hugs for me?
LupoBabe
well i think i answered ok? hard to think on the spot though? was told if i had any question to email them... oh well i can't change it now can i
Crusoe
sure you did fine Sam, first phone interview is just a quick way of weeding out oall the chancers who lied on their cvs, sure you've got a good chance of getting through to the next round. N3WOB
[ QUOTE ] and then looked up and said "oh yes, what's the company's policy on piercings?" [/ QUOTE ] What?! That was a no brainer then, perfect grounds for employment. Infact I find this is an often overlooked critera for selection. LB, I shouldn't get too disheartened, many of us have had similar at some point in the past. Even if your application isn't taken forward, the experience should help you with future interviews whether over the phone or face to face. Mollox
I can't imagine Sam's experience would have been anywhere near as bad as this poor girl's. She really didn't do well and I did feel sorry for her.
