Petem95
This may sound a little odd, but even when warmed up there is still some visible steam coming from the exhaust? Of course when you start up on a cold day this is expected, but even after travelling say 15miles, when Im in traffic I can still see the odd bit of visible steam in the rear mirror? The car is running fine, its just been serviced (including inspection), theres no water in the oil or anything. Could this point to any potential problems, or am I just being paranoid?!! Chav
What temperature did it say on the DIS (when you were in traffic etc)?
Petem95
The temp gauge stays at a constant 90, I wasnt aware the DIS could display oil/water temp?
Chav
Sorry, I meant what outside temperature was it indicating!
Petem95
Im guessing it could just be perfectly normal that there is some visible steam from the exhaust in cold weather, even when the engines fully warmed up - anyone else noticed any from their car?? kite
With the cold weather could this just be condensation !
Phantom
Mine has done this since I have had it from new, wasn't sure if it was a quirk of the 2.4 engine. As my temp gauge is working normally I have tended to ignore it, just looks strange in the summer after a motorway run and you can see small plumes of smoke coming from the exhaust. Petem95
It seems to make visible steam when the temp is below say 6 degrees. Its only recently Ive noticed it to be honest. You know how it is when youre stuck in commuter traffic board silly - tend to notice little things and get paranoid about them! Reassuring to hear others have the same thing with their A4's, maybe nothing to worry about then
