kuks
A mate was mentioning that the BMW M3 Extended Warranty is not only being amended, in that they are removing some parts that they used to cover, but the bloody price is going up as well Has anyone else heard similar or know any more?? If this is true - it is out of order
NewNiceMrMe
Yes, it's definately true. However, the parts being removed from cover are ones on which claim values would be very low anyway.

kuks
Thanks for confirming it guys - I have also been informed that in addition to the price hike, warranty claims will also incur an excess charge Things like this make me mad. The 's I think there was a thread not long ago about non-BMW warranties, but I cannot find it, could someone kindly point me in the right direction......in light of all this I have will have to look at this in more detail - don't want to, but finding it very hard to spend the kind of money BMW want. Thanks in advance
NewNiceMrMe
Brummie, as uncharitable as the warranty changes may seem the BMW Warranty is still miles ahead of anything you'll find elsewhere. It is without doubt one of the best offered by any manufacturer for cars outside of their standard terms. You also have to consider the charge is relevant to the price of the vehicle new - because it'll still cost a fortune to fix anything major that goes wrong. On other forums I've seen a lot of unfortunate cases where people think the warranty is expensive and they either go elsewhere or don't bother at all. Then sure enough, they're in the crap 6-12 months later when something major fails and they're either a) not covered for it at all or b) getting told by the third party warranty company to read the small print. Work out the cost as a percentage of the cars original list price and you'll find it still comes out as very good value for money in comparison it other marques. I do agree that the excess if a rather nasty little addition from them.
kuks
I understand what your saying MrMe and I do think along similar lines - but its still alot of money to shell out each year (its suprising how quickly it comes around again!) - on top of this the bloody thing continues depreciating quite heavily too The cost of the warranty as percentage of the initial cost of a new M3 is small, but for a car nearly 4 years old this is not such an attractive way of looking at it!! It stands to reason (well sods law!) that as soon as you decide not to take up another year of warranty, or use some third party, something expensive will envitably go pop!! and you are in the I suppose I will have to take up the warranty for my peace of mind, and if the worst happens, my wallet too Its still a
NewNiceMrMe
The depreciation was one of the reasons I got out of my last M3. It was getting worryingly bad and I know it's got to even further depths now. I guess you have to make a best guess at which point the warranty becomes over priced for what you're 'insuring'. If the car is still being serviced by a main dealer then I'd be very reluctant let it elapse though. There is another factor too - the warranty would be a major selling point, without doubt.
