bigtone
Can anyone advise me please? My driver's mirror glass has gone rather odd. I showed it to my Audi specialist and he said this happens sometimes, where the copper backing inside has separated and resulted in what I have displayed in the attachment. He also said a new one from Audi is around £50. Where can I get one at a sensible price and is it unique to A8 or is it common against say A3 for example? The mirror unit functions normally and the heater still works, it's just the glass! Mine is a 2.8 Sport 2001 model
SneakyMcC
Mine has had the slightest bit around the edges for years. Mine dont have the bleck rubber around the edges like yours, mines an early model. Black rubber prolly there to keep the water out, but once its got in it may not be able to dry back out and the water freezing thats done that? Allaudi the breakers may be able to help. I read somewhere that the 8 uses mirrors from the VW Passat
crasher
Mine went like that after i used a jet washer! At the moment its still usable - but i guess i may get round to sorting it out later in the year. Once my other teething issues are resolved. spencerbruntlett
Mine was split when I bought the car, tried to fix it myself and proved thats a none starter. However I was quoted £208 by the stealer for the replacement (heater, auto dimming & with blind spot section) so if you can get the right one for £50 tell me where from please As I needed a replacement asap I used a standard mirror (no auto dim)which was £37.50 and came from a basic 2.8 A8.
