I saw a Honda Beat once on an LA freeway. That was actually a more exotic spotting than the F40 I saw casually parked at a curb. Almost the same curb I saw a Porsche GT3 parked at last week. And it's not even in Beverly Hills!!

In Beverly Hills, Conti's are a dime a dozen. You are guarunteed can see at least one Maybach, a Rolls, a Lamborghini and a Ferrari on each visit too.

But between my visits to the concourse show in Pebble Beach, and my having visted the now defunct "Hill and Vaugh" restoration facility, among some other restoration shops, I've seen some pretty rare and very beautiful machines.

I got up close and personal with the XKSS formerly owned by Steve McQueen. The owner was a real ****er, and wouldn't let me ride in it during the rally. I rode in a Lancia Flavia instead.

The only interesting car I've seen recently is one I have forgotten the name of. It is a sleek slightly retro-looking coupe which I think is based on the Z3M Coupe or the M3 - they tested one on TopGear a year or 18 months ago. Any ideas? Spotted in Javea on the Costa Blanca.

This is easy for me. For one you don't see a mass of exotica in the Northeast and secondly anything I ever seen on a trip to London is usually just parked up.

However, in 1990 I went on a holiday to Austria. On a trek outside of our resort (Kitzbuhel) I was lucky enough to see a Ferrari F40 being thrashed up a mountain pass, around a hairpin and off into the distance.

It was an incredible sight and an audio treat. It's a memory that has stayed with me since, and still very vividly. It's also the main reason an F40 would be the first supercar on my list of purchases if I ever I were to win the lottery!

The best for me have been an original Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and an Aston Martin DB5.

Of the modern cars a McLaren F1 GTR, Liam Howlett's (of Prodigy fame) to be precise and the original 7.7 litre Speed Twelve TVR on the road rather than track.

Would love to see a Murcielago Roadster or a Veyron.

In light of other posts, I forgot:

Koenigsegg CC8S x2 (including the first in the UK!)

Millions of Maybachs and Phantoms

Jay Kay's Miura S

and I saw 4 F40s in one place today (Graypaul showroom is the place to go right now! 169144-ok.gif)

The mad Maser at Goodwood was the Birdcage driven up the hill by the boss of Maserati no less!

Actually, I used to do a lot of work in the automotive industry and was one of the first people to see the following cars (which are all pretty dull) -

Mini (new one), saw the first UK built one being made.

New V50 (saw it as a focus shell) donkeys years ago in Gothenburg. I loved working with Volvo, great place, great guys. They wanted a glass flip hatch at the time I recall.

Ford Cougar (looked fat dull and american even before the wraps were taken off)

Lotus Elise (the chassis to be exact, won a nice order from the guys doing that), nice car.

Ford focus saloon (hideous, really hideous)

Spent loads of time at Porsche, BMW and Mercedes too (few years back), but don't remember seing anything spectacular. Porsche museum is an interesting little place (and free).

Hummer (h2 ?, the 'little' one), in the US. They asked me what I thought ... I told 'em it was a heat of poo.

Fiat Brava/o (zzzzzzzzzz)

Skoda VRS (nearly forgot that one).

I have been to nearly every car plant/design centre in Europe, but my job has changed and I miss that side of things.

Ermm, feel like I'm showing off now, so I'll stop.

Yikes... have seen all sorts.

A few Mclaren F1s

Loads of Bentleys of MANY varieties. (I used to work there sekret.gif)

As a result of the above I got to see a lot of very nice cars quite a lot. Oh how they loved to turn up in their other smart cars. grin.gif

Seen an Alfa SZ they are quite rare.

Bugatti EB110 was on sale in Mancheter Bentley fairly recently don't see too many of those.

When I was in Switzerland I must have seen 30-40 Ferrari's ove various types on a drive. Now that was special.

Too many to mention, And working in Wilslow at the moment around the corner from the Aston dealership thats set to continue. There is Mega money around there, what is it more millionares per square mile than anywhere else in the country I think it is. EEK2.GIF169144-ok.gif

Its the old racing cars with some history that I get excited about.

Like the AM DBR1 that won LeMans in 1959 driven by Roy Salvadori and Carrol Shelby. Which I have had the pleasure of seeing on a number of occasions.

Last year I saw the Aston DB4 Zagato 1VEV that Jim Clark raced in 1962, parked up at Silverstone.

PS second the comments re the Alfs SZ,not a hairdressers car.
