stevej69
Is this possible? i have standards Red/Orange DIS, can Full Colour DIS be retrofitted. Im seriously thinking about RNS-E Nav Plus upgrade, does this work with standard DIS or does it need Colour DIS?
gizze
It works with the standard dis, it will work with no dis but obviously you don'r see anything in the cluster. Have a read on www.nacplus.us , there was a long thread on retrofitting colour DIS.
Scotty
It is really worth it? I have it and it's better than the red only but it's not exactly VGA reslution and 32million colours. In fact to save you a lot of time and effort, just print this off, cut it out and stick it in your dash.
Chav
It does look cool though. If it could be retrofitted easily/cheaply, I'd be tempted!

Soapsuds
from what i have read, it means replacing your instrument pod with one from a stealers or eBay (with less than 100kms on the clock and the correct SKU codes....). Someone seems to be working on fitting just the LCD part of the screen, but looks unlikely....
BenjaminTDI
I actually prefer the red DIS! Not sure why you'd want to upgrade to the colour DIS as there is no extra functionality?

Nelson_R32
Colour DIS for my car would be over £400, and thats to me!! I'm keeping the £400.00 and spending it on the 21 inch plasma for my bedroom
the911sc
I had the option of ordering colour DIS for £100 but I cant say its worthwhile unless you have Nav + IMO.

the911sc
It does (i think!), it just looks a bit better with the Hi res colour dis but otherwise, I agree its nice to have all the red matching on the dash.
gizze
D.I.S can be colour or all red, nav works with both, but I always thought that if you didn't have the D.I.S you lost the cluster nav instructions. Probably wrong, I usually am!

the911sc
I have been messing woith this on my S4. I have the gsm phonekit also and I can get it to display MP3 and radio info or telephone numbers (incoming and outgoing). I think I may be able to mess with this more to get both after looking at navplus.us but to be honest, the RNS E display is plenty big enough to display the radio info. I do get the Nav info in the DIS though, cycling through the DIS computer, I get NAV, display off, DIS 1, Dis 2.
PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] I thought you had to have DIS to get the navigation up? [/ QUOTE ] Look on Navplus guys on there have it working on both the red and colour displays. On the A4 the red display can be a bit tempramental - some people report having to turn the RNS-E off and back on having set a route. BTW the RNS-E only puts something on the display when either you have an active route, OR you've turned on the compass display. AND you use the RESET botton on the bottom of the wiper stalk to cycle between off, trip 1, trip 2 and nav.

[/ QUOTE ] Look on Navplus guys on there have it working on both the red and colour displays. [/ QUOTE ] But they are both DIS, you get 3 options, monochrome DIS, full colour DIS and no DIS at all. You can't spec an Audi with RNS-E whithout adding DIS to the car as well. You can of course fit the RNS-E to a car without DIS, but not sure if you would be able to get the Nav instuctions up on the cluster if it doesn't have DIS, I thought the cluster was slightly different.
