CarMad
A microphone or a headset.. and thats just about it. On the latest version you can share webcams as well, and it does a great job at it too boot. Just download it, pick a username and off you go. Its not hard at all. If you want to be able to call landlines you have to put some money in your account for credit. If you are just going to speak to people across the net its totally free. Mollox
Bonzer! You're right, its a piece of cake I was under the impression I had to buy some sort of headset/phone thing, hence never having gotten round to getting it until now
simkna
Skype is the mutts... I can sit here in my hotel room in the USA - wireless, talking to wife at home several thousand miles away, also wireless for free. PS, the microphone I brought with me off an old camcorder is bolloxed - so am using a pair of headphones as a mic instead - perfect quality. PPS, noise cancelling headphones - best money I ever spent. Makes plane journeys sooooo much better. Si.

pingpongpo
Playing online games now for years on my PC and have been speaking to my 'teammates' via microphone for years as well. I'm surprised it's taken this long to catch on. I doubt the ofcom/oftel will be able to ban people from hosting their own 'servers' (We used to use a little program called teamspeak, probably much the same as these new ones) and talking to each other that way. The thing is, how long will it be before they get rid of the crappy standing chrage for BT and charge people for the calls? I hardly ever use my home phone to ring out on (Probably max once a fortnight) and it pisses me off I have to pay £11 a month for the right to do so. craigyb
I have one of the DECT Skype phones made by Linksys (Cisco). I can have the phone anywhere in the house and keep the USB base station plugged into a PC that runs 24x7. But now you can get IP Skype phones and I'm pretty sure you will be able to get WIFI ones pretty soon. The linksys was around £70 from Amazon and works really well. Model CIT200 I think Craig
