rogerlomman
The joy of country living. On the daily comute today one of the locals tried to get in the car to visit me - via the windscreen. So my two week old baby (yes, the car) gets to visit the crash shop for a new bumper, radiator support, bonnet, LF guard, LHF door, LH mirror, LH Headlight and windscreen. Or should I just try the new polish? I guess the Kangaroo lost this round, at least the GTI lives to drive another day.

mainy
Holy FCUK Glad you're OK Clubman. Cars can be repaired quite easily, humans take a bit longer

RedRobin
Ouch!! Considering how far that grey GTI appears to have skidded and rolled, the cabin is reassuringly intact!
rogerlomman
[ QUOTE ] I feel your pain mate! was the kangaroo ok after the incident? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think he'll be hopping about anytime soon - I was doing around 80kms at the time and he came over the armco straight onto the car, I didn't even see him before I hit him. The car is in surprisingly good condition and still drives O.K. (just had to pull the guard off the tyre) with no major mechanical damage just lots of bent panels. The crash shop suggest all new parts (no repairs) and the paint match should be fine as it's so new. I didn't realise before but the whole front structure (radiator support panel) is plastic and therefore not repairable so even a minor shunt will mean replacing the whole thing. But on the plus side, the whole repair (even the door skins) can be done with no cutting, welding or body filler.

GTiCrow
I feel for you Roger, the time waiting and then this happens. You would think the roo should have known it was a GTi and gone and picked on a Ford or Holden. Looks like the side impact performance of the GTi is impressive as you can still drive it. Are you inviting everyone around for barbecue roo anytime soon? Have they said how long you have to wait for parts - my previous car a Liberty had it off the road for 2 months while they waited for parts from Japan - hopefully you do not have to wait that long. I guess our outing with Bill will have to wait until your black beast gets out of the doctors. Cheers mate,

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks Ray, Insurance inspection yesterday and in the shop tomorrow. The guys think the parts are all only a day away so they expect to be done Friday week. Saw a white GTI last week on NE road, a red one in Lobethal and a black one this week in Hutt street. And to top it off, I just sold my car trailer to a gent with a silver one. Common as! Still keeping an eye out for the shadow though... ---------------------

I have seen 2 different red ones, 2 black, 3 silver and 1 white. Been looking for yours, but didn't realise you were using it to cull skippys. Can't remember where your office is (Richmond Road?) and if it is I guess I will have to bring mine out to where you work one lunch hour so you can see it - needs a clean inside and out first. Hope you have it back on the road real quick.
