Cleybrooke
Everything You Needed to Know About Your New GTi (but where afraid to ask) There are a number of threads that often appear with the similar questions on this board and I thought it would be a good idea to get them all onto one thread so that newusers (and some old hands) can have a single reference thread to check out first. If we keep it tidy and on subject I’m sure we could build something that will save a lot of time. As starter can I suggest we can start to build this around the following: What if I have build date x when can I expect delivery? What is the recommended running? What are the known problems? e.g.: -Rear windscreen going barmy -Door seals have dropped off -Steering wheel crunching noise -Wind noise from door What is the Highline Computer? How much are 18’s because I’ve curbed mine. Should I get a bottle opener in the centre armrest? Should I get a litre of oil in the boot in a nice case? What phone cradle options are there? How to get Launch Control working? What does colour x look like? How much space do the folding mirrors save? What does the hi fi upgrade give you? Where can I get a discount? I’m sure you all have some suggestions so if we all take a subject and add one post then jobs a good un! Red could start by adding the running in page he’s doing with his new camera. RedRobin
Okay, so here is the info from the Handbook about running in. And I would only add that this is made easier if you have the DSG version and use D-mode to begin with. The key to it is a gradual progression. TwoSheds
Power Folding Mirrors. These reduce the overall mirror width on each side by 6 cms. Can be useful if entering a narrow garage entrance. They do not however fold completely in. ( like for instance on BMW )

encee
Okay, the "how much are the 18`s question ?" I know something about this, because I`ve just changed my standard 17`s, for the optional-extra 18` Monza II`s, and, to order from VW (and you`ll be VERY lucky to get them elsewhere), they cost approx £2200 pounds, for a set of 4 alloys plus (decent) tyres. I say "approx", because you may get some discount for various reasons, but you are unlikely to get them for less than £1900 pounds.
