Regretting your non-purchases

I probably didn't realistically have the funds at the time even though it was only a matter of four hundred quid, but one I do wish I'd bought was something my mate turned up in about 15 years ago. He'd taken it as a px. It wasn't exactly sporty, but it was very cool in a Blues Brothers kinda way - or at least I thought so. cool.gif

It was a Toyota Crown, dark blue with dark blue velour interior. Think it was a P reg so 1976/7, 250k on the clock. It badly needed a respray, but it was solid underneath, and everything worked (and I mean everything - there were spacecraft with simpler electronics than this thing in 1976). It was a big old bus, had the smoothest 2.6 litre 6 cylinder motor you could imagine, not exactly swift but ran like a dream.

Sadly, it passed me by and another guy he knew bought it, resprayed it and ran it for a good few years.

about 7 years ago, i nearly bought a MINT RWD Toyota Corolla with loads of spares / rally prep'd spare engine etc. for £2.5K. It was at the top of my price bracket at the time, but i bought a Golf GTi instead.

Dont get me wrong, i NEVER regret buying the golf as it is still the best car i have EVER owned to this day - and always will be! It's just the Corollas are so rare now and amazing to drive. Wish i had the chance to own one..... frown.gif

Around a year and a half ago i had to buy 4 mini's which all need some work from a guy who's Mini Restoration garage went under,

A pick up mini with a 1275GT engine in it

A Mini Van (old style with the crazy gear stick)

A Mini Clubman 1275GT (in orange)

A Mini Mayfair (Mint but the engine had been cooked)

Plus a load of spares(Wheels bucket seats etc etc)

I could have got the lot for £1000 but i had two cars on the drive way and one in the garage so i had no space for them.

I wish i had got them slap.gif
