Just out of curiosity how many of the GTi Brigade have experience the difference between a 13s qtr car and a 15?

Or in fact say a 5s against a 7? Rounding up in all incidences.

It's pretty harsh - far bigger than you'd imagine.

....This is a very good and fundamental point. When seen on paper, 0.5 of a second appears to be only a gnat's arse, and so does the difference between 5.5 and 6.5 for example. Coupled with the sensation of speed - The Mk5 GTI feels faster than it is - plus the ability to easily keep up with an obviously faster car in certain conditions (especially when the other driver isn't interested in racing) - All give you the perception of being faster.

Anyway, I find the Mk5 GTI plenty fast enough for road use....And it's great fun cool.gif.

I've just read it all again.:roflmao:

Wow. I was a nasty fecker wasn't I. Sorry.:roflmao:

Mind you, I agree with everything I said.

It had to be resurrected for the sheer fun of it.

Does this mean the "Buns" are coming out MrMe?

Or for that matter you are currently knocking up a set of home made "Gallows" complete with Bungee rope for an added "Twist" to the ending?

have to say though, it was rather an entertaining "in house" fracas by TSN standards.

....Not on TsN currently but there are plenty of Ed30 drivers on Stage2+ who are willy-waving about being faster than RS4's etc. They are feckin quick but.

Sadly some ED30 owners tend to be like that. Look at all the fuss they made because their car didn't have a plaque with the number printed on it

VW UK did lead them on though

Yep a bunch of "Plaque Teasers" those folk at VW..............still have not forgiven them for making far too many Mk4 R32's than they said they would.......do you think we should chase Audi Vorspring Technithingy, for a "Plaque" on the RS3??

1 to 500 should cover it......................YLF!!

Sorry Red,begs the question: Just how would VW05 fair against say an RS4??? Be careful and considerate with your reply, otherwise you might have MrMe attempting to suspend you from the nearest crystal chandelier by your shoe laces..........

....Hmm.. In a 'shoot-out' there is also the expertise of the driver to factor in and my style of driving tends to be me versus the road rather than versus another car. But if I'm obliged to try and make comparisons I'd say that the RS4 is a faster car than my K03 turbo'd GTI. However, I expect that my car with Quaife diff and KW coilovers feels better planted in corners in spite of quattro but I'm not saying I'd beat one cross country on B-roads. I think my car just feels more tactile to drive. You know how good your Golf R feels and that's not modified as far as I know.

Having physically owned an RS4 and having driven cross country with MrMe (and others), I'm outta here too - just in case I have to step in with some hard facts !! +++

Your own opinions on RS4 ownership would be greatly appreciated TP27, as I have toyed with buying one, I have driven one, but ownership is a different matter, any pros and cons would be of great help, if you could spare the time to post up.

Most acomplished car I have ever owned BUT V8 RS models drink fuel like it's going out of fashion!! I owned the Mugello Blue Avant from new for 18 months, covered 14k miles, used a set of Continental tyres and got used to 14 mpg !! Two issues during ownership - engine warning lamp kept on coming on, one resulting in 50 miles of "limp mode" down the A9 from Inverness, which was a real concen and then the age old DRC issue, which was the greatest turn off to ownership! If you want to learn what it's like to smile every day, driving with the windows down for the pure thrill of the engine note and you own a Refinery, buy one !! If you also have a heavy right foot, aim at £400 extra expenditure every month 'cos V-Power is the only tonic the RS4 enjoys !! Been seen and done as they say and no regrets at all - the RS5 still appeals but for the price !! That said, the Golf R may prove to be bonkers on the pocket too !! +++
