RS4 Stolen

Forgive me if this has been posted!

Dropped my car in for some more warranty work and got chatting with the staff. Apparently someone in Manchester took delivery of a new RS4 on March 1st and had it stolen March 4th. Not seen anything on here about it but I don't visit as regularly.

Sorry for whoever suffered and hope it's no-one here.

I must say I'm suprised how hard dealers are having to work to shift these cars..

They have got the car absolutly spot on.. but the price??.. steep compaired to an M3.. and with money being tighter at the moment for everyone.. i reckon it's not all roses.

The dealer had other concerns. Apparently you can't turn the engine off until the temperature has reached the optimum level, no quick drive up the road and jump out...he said he thought that would be a huge problem for new owners!

Feel we are slightly off topic but no-one else is adding to the theft story! 169144-ok.gif

this was over on Rs246 a couple of days ago..

Audi UK have today notified all UK Dealers via Desktop, that a B7-RS4 has been stolen; the car supplied to its owner on the 1st is now missing.

Keys believed to have been stolen from owners house overnight, the car had a tracker, but when activated did not provide any information.

Gutted for whoevers car that was just getting ure new pride and joy for some bast*rds to come take it, blatently been stolen to order.

cheers Rob

I've always wondered this....

Surely there's only a handful of places you can hide a tracker on a car? I presume also that if its broadcasting a signal then this signal can be detected, isolated and then the unit dealt with?

Surely its not infallible?

they are by no means the absolute answer to theft.

But it's a time issue.. the best tracker systems should let you know that the car is moving and that it should be being tracked within minutes of it being stolen.

I would agree that once you are into days (or even half days) then your chances of getting it back are remote.

But it's the speed of removal that would worry me.. they either know where trackers are located.. and most need a ramp to get to, or they knew this car and where to go to. confused.gif

The Audi dealer "accidentally" left the cover copy of my tracker install on his desk when I was collecting my S4. It had the location of the tracker on it. Easy for someone on the inside to find this information. Also as Mollox says there are not that many places to hide the kit.

Dave,

I would be furious if that was me mad.gif

I am suprised they can be so flippant over such important information.

Was pretty angry at him for it, but the twat had kept me waiting for an hour despite a) having booked an appointment and b) having flown in from Miami that morning (feeling jetlagged) which he knew about.

Funnily enough he doesn't work for Audi anymore.

|MOst trackers don't work inside containers on ships....

Or the backs of lorries. It's only a minute or two's driving required to get it to where it can be ramped into the back of a container on the back of a big wagon, then it's able to be stripped and the tracker located.

When I had a Cayenne courtesy car over Xmas the tracker pack was in the car which had the ID numbers in and the cards and the install info.

You can get around a tracker very easily, I wont say how on here but its a piece of piss even if you dont know where it is on the car. An RS4 is a dream for scum who need a car to get away in a hurry, its either in a container on its way to Eastern europe or its had the tracker out, been plated up, only thing in its favour is the small amount of RS4's in the UK so it will stick out a mile even if its platted up.
