Help needed from an owner of a high class car

Hi there

I have been a member on here for a while and have previously arranged a couple of rolling road events and am regularly organising karting events for forum members

I have recently set up a new business called Cambridge Autogleam. Its a mobile valeting service aimed at owners of high end cars and also enthusiast owners who are more particular about who touches their car.

I am in the process of finishing my website and at present just have a script loading random pictures in the header.

What i would like though is to be able to do a photoshoot of me cleaning a high end car infront of one of Cambridge's most famous backdrops... Kings College Chapel (Picture of the Chapel) and use a selection of photos from this shoot for the header image of my site.

This is hopefully where some friendly car owner from here could come in.....?

I would love to have an Aston Martin but would be equally happy with any well respected high end car.

What can i offer in return?? well... not much really... im hoping to just appeal to peoples better nature and hopefully someone out there who loves cars as much as myself would be up for this. I would of course be more than happy to fully valet the car for no charge at any time and i would make a copy of all the pictures available to the owner of the car. Number plates would not be displayed on the site either.

SO..... if anyone around the cambridge area is even remotely interested in helping out please just drop me a reply or a PM

Thanks

Nathan Willits

Is it just me being skeptical, or are spammers just getting wiser, and waiting a bit until they advertise??

I think Jedi's intentions are honourable - he's on a few different forums and has, as he said, tried to organise various events which take up a lot of time.

I think we should possibly give him a break on this one 169144-ok.gif

To be honest, I'm not sure where you could clean a car within sight of the chapel. The front is out as that's a road and the back is out as there's also a road there and the colleges really don't like you parking on the grass.

Could you contact a local garage and be upfront with them? Perhaps put a link to their garage on your site and if a saleman comes with you, then they'll be able to make sure that you're not just wanting a quick thrash in a nice car 169144-ok.gif

What exactly would you be doing as part of the valet?

If your prepared to come to me, maybe you could do the Gallardo. Since it appears your not just a spammer.

Oops, forgot to say. I'm in West London. Somewhere like Windsor would probably be your best bet for some nice pics.

hi guys. thanks for the replies.. i have been in london today so only just checked the forum.

firstly... no dont worry im not a spammer... im genuinely setting up my own business. Having worked in an office for the past 5 years i want a new challenge and having a love of cars i decided to set this up.

In all honesty i havnt checked out a suitable site in view of the college yet. Will pop down there tomorrow and have a look. im pretty sure i remember a spot that would be perfect though.

5to1... thanks for the offer. valet would be anything you wanted really. check out my prices page for brief details of what is done.(apologies for the format of it at the moment... thats my job for tomorrow to get it formatted properly actually)... however i would prefer it to be cambridge as i want people to identify the picture with the area i will be working... i will keep you in mind though

Just wanted to throw the idea to you guys early really to see what reaction it got and to see if it would be a go'er atall... of not i may go down the rent a car route... or try to talk the new AM garage in cambs into lending me a car for the day (not to sure if that will ever happen but i can only put on my best suit and give it a go)

cheers for now.

Nathan

Just a thought, but might you not put some potential customers off if you start doing shots with such major architectural landmarks.....It could easily look as if your services cost an arm and a leg and that you only do cars like Astons etc.

I would concentrate more on getting pics of your product - An immaculately cleaned car. What is nice about your sig, for example, is the contrast with that wall. Your company name on your sig is hardly visible - Poor typography. I'm just offering you constructive criticism as an Art Director.

Out of interest, will you valet any car or only 'high class'?

Jediknight;

I just looked at your site, and I think that empashisng Cambridge itself through using a college is a bit of a waste of time. People are looking for clean cars, not landscape photography!

You should take up 5 to 1's offer - as you are unlikley to get a shot at a lambo without pics to show that other drivers trust you, however, I'd keep the picture of the G reg honda - as I've never seen a pic of a horrible lambo, but I've never seen a pic of a nice G reg honda - it shows what you can do & shows people that you are not elitist.

PS> if you come to Glasgow and valet my car, then you can take some pictures of my S3! grin.gif

A nice background makes for a pleasing picture, and as the aim is to be geographically-focussed, I think a background that local people recognise might be a good idea. The pictures need a shallow enough depth-of-field that the background is nicely blurred to keep the shiny car the main point of interest, but still remain recognisable to people who know the location.

Who cares about the location of the pics. The company name, the URL, the info on the site all say that. I'd just get some decents shots of cars up.

It says more about the company if people entrust their 'high-class' cars to you rather than "oh look it's Cambridge". Take the very generous offer (to an unproven company) of the Lambo.

That's exactly what I was trying to say.

You've got the offer of a lambo, if 5to1 is happy with it, I'm sure that you'll get some offers of very nice cars off TSN to fill up the site with pics.

Supercars are all very nice, but show me a site that isn't just lambos, ferraris, astons all shiney. I'd say a good selection from a lambo to an R/S4 to a TT to a GTI to an X5 to that honda & corrado would show that you have a broad range of skills & that it's not just exotica that can look good. 169144-ok.gif

Hi guys. all invaluable advice.

The AM infront of the college pic was my header pic idea. that would then stay as the header pic. I had some advice from another designer who said a randomising pic on the home page was a bad idea as knowone would remember the site for one set image. I would of course then use other images throughout the site

Before i take up anyones offer and give a feee valet i would want to complete my autoglym training. I have already had the rep come and give me training on washing (when i bought all the products) but im booked on the course at autoglyms head office where i will learn much more about polishing and interiors.

Thanks for the comments about the honda. That was my first car and my little baby. had it bare metal resprayed and then cleaned weekly and it stood out in a car park of cars worth 10 - 20 times as much. The corrado and the S3 in the pics are also my own.

Maybe what i should do then.... is keep an eye on when you guys are having one of your monthly meets... and then come along???? im sure there would then be a good range of cars there and maybe i could get some more realistic pic there

Ferraris, Lambos and Astons have been mentioned - but i think a new R32 or an RS4 in all it's glory would look great cleaned up nicely!

Maybe you could offer a specialist limo-cleaning service!? Get mobile up to Yorkshire and help Insurance Jon out!!

Oh of course, a Lambo anywhere looks better than a Nissan Sunny or something in cambridge! grin.gif

The ideal would be a nice car in a recognisable place (so it doesn't look like a library image), but a nice car anywhere else is a very good 2nd place for that.

I doubt anyone will travel to Cambs for a free valet, especially not in the kind of car that will cost more in petrol than a valet is worth to get there... wink.gif
