Mk4 vs Mk5

Hey Guys. First post on here. Been going on UK-MKivs quite a bit but heard great things about tyresmoke so thought Id check it out and very impressed.

Anyway I've been driving my Mk4 GTi turbo for a few years and the time has come for me to change. I've always wanted a Mk4 R32 but now the Mk5's are becoming a little more available do I take the plunge and spend the extra on the mk5?

It seems some of you guys have owned both and I imagine this question has been done to death so will I see the benefit of spending a extra 10k on the Mk5?

Hello and Welcome aboard! 169144-ok.gif

My personal favorite is the Mk4, i think it still looks the balls on both the outside and the inside. I have the Konigg seats which are both very supportive and comfortable whereas the buckets in the new R (if they are the same as the RS4) are far to tight and uncomfortable by comparison for no extra support.

Anyway there was a good post recently just here........ on the subject.

I dont believe there are any that have been fitted in the UK but this company will be doing fitting of the EIP turbo sometime this year i believe, from my email conversations with them. Hope this is of use 169144-ok.gif

Think simonv6golf might have something different to say about that jump.gif Do a search and his 418bhp R crops up. VR6 Specialists in Netherlands were involved in it somehow, I think to help change the manifold to clear all the RHD stuff like steering column etc. There's a link floating about on Vortex (thought there was one on here but can't find it at the moment)....hang on a sec and I'll find it....... Vortex Link

Yes i read all about it in VW Driver mag but im sure the link i gave earlier will be the first firm in the UK to do the whole fitting in the UK. Anyway even if it turns out that im talking out of my buttcheeks.gif (which has been known !!) its certainly a fantastic add-on. Anyone know how much SimonV6Golf paid for his conversion ?

Cheers Tspar. 7 hours to do all that, rather them than me. Should be good would be great to see some in the flesh. I saw the Twin turbo HPA set-up at inters last year, that was amazing just dont want to drop the money on it and then have problems. thanks for the replies guys

He quoted about £5k in an earlier post I think but not sure if that was just the kit and the fitting was extra. And I definitely saw a photo of his car on the Westec rollers somewhere so think they also had something to do with his kit. Sorry Tspar!!!!

That cheap? Hopefully i can persuade "her indoors" to indulge me with some sort of "personal loan" after my warranty runs out next year !! heart.gif
