timing cover area noise

Not had any problems myself, but check to make sure the cover is securely fastened. A guy here at work asked me to look at his Passat, as it was making some weird noises, and it turned out his timing belt cover had a broken fastener, and the sound he was hearing was the belt eating through the cover.

Just a suggestion,

Hum....

Check out the cover from the fuses - it's on the side when you open the driver's door (t.i. left door, don't know if that's different on U.K. cars).

Anyway, inside that cover there is a little device to help you get out the fuses and it's kind of loose hanging on the cover so it can rattle a bit.
