Problem with my D3 that Audi can't fix.

Recently my D3 A8 has started throwing up errors such as the brake lights having failed or the passenger door being open. It does this entirely at random and the warnings are completely errornous.

Audi say there is nothing wrong and they can't replicate the problem.

Any ideas?

I'd agree that bad earth or water is a likely culprit, parts of the sensor network like bulb fail detection should work on voltage drop IIRC, so unless the control module has died (which should be noticable on a diagnostic), it's probably something like that affecting the wiring loom.

A bulb is knacked on the rear. It will be the one where the rear stop light is paired with the rear light.

The filaments are touching, hence some current goes down the earth for the 'other' light which the computer knows has not been used.

I had it on one of my cars - the rear combo light powered up the front fog (very dimly) but enough to trigger the diagnostics thinking some other lights were out!

Many of these LED bulbs have resistors in series with it I suppose if the impedence varies from different bulb manufacturers that may cause the probs, assuming that they have been replaced with non OE jobbies along the short life of the car; though they shouldn't have as they are suppose to have a much longer life than normal bulbs.
