benjie
when you press the button on my friend's Golf 4, the fuel cap doesn't open - anybody know a fix or how to get into it? She's on the red line and is running out of options!! Any help is appreciated!!
pingpongpo
I would assume the solenoid has stopped working. My first port of call would be to check the fuses, check the switch is still working and then get a screwdriver out and prise the fecker off as a last resort. shao_khan
On the Beetle there is a manual release for the fuel flap inside the Boot, its hidden away behind the carpetting and what have you, but its like a piece of wire that does the job when the electric one fails. Not sure if this exists on the MK4, I would have thought so.

shao_khan
was it easy to find? I've never even bothered looking!
pingpongpo
I'd have still gone for the screwdriver.....
benjie
I couldn't see it myself, but then I had lost my glasses at the time! I took the little door off and pulled hard at the grey trim and she got it almost straight away! I think ther whole DIY thing is a good idea for the switch too!
