sTTu
How strange Morethan sent me a renewal for £416 in the post, so I did a search on confused.com and got a quote from Morethan of £260.17 !! Would you think thats a good price for a A4 Cab 3.0 ? It was the cheapest I could find so far. sTTu
lmmlmmam
Sounds like a real bargin! I'd be asking them some questions about that. The renewal didn't sound bad.
DanG
I tried this before a few years back, got the renewal, and then worked in out on line with the same company. Came up cheaper. They refused to match it and said it was due to new policy discounts. I then said I would cancel my insurance and re apply and they told me that I would be banned from being insured by them for 12 months. Not sure how much of it was bull, probably quite alot, and the customer service monkey was exactly that. Ended up going with another firm in the end, very disapointed. UBM
I had a similar incident with MoreThan. I'm now with Privelege - enough said...
lmmlmmam
Privelage and Direct Line both seem to be reasonably consistent with there renewals. They've gained a bit of loyalty from me for that.
bec21tt
My renewal with Privilege came through, so I went online & they were cheaper (probably because of the online 10% discount) & cheapest out of any quotes. So I rang them & they said "just renew it online, as if you are a new customer" Sorted!

Their renewals are generally 10%-20% then a new online quote. I rang them and asked them to match the online quote and they said they couldn't but they advised me to let the my current policy lapse, take out a new policy online and send them their own renewal documents as proof of NCB I have done it for 3 years in a row now and they've never queried it
Avus_Bub
It's just crazy isn't it? IIRC I think they may have told him to do it as well! BUB

PetrolDave
I did the same thing with the AA in February, their renewal quote was 20% higher than their online quote. Ended up going with What Car (Liverpool Victoria) and saved a further 10% - plus got lifetime no claim bonus, 90 days EU cover, etc etc. When I changed from my A4 1.9TDi to my S4 in February last year I was with More Than - but despite them saying "we insure safe DRIVERS" they refused to quote on the S4. I'm still the same DRIVER whether I'm in an S4 or an A4 1.9TDi so that's just marketing bull

I've done it with esure and also with Noriwch Union. With both insurers they said they couldn't match their on-line price but told me to let the policy lapse and then renew on-line...which I did no problems! I also do this with my breakdown insurance that's through Norwich union too...but previously I did with RAC and flipped from me to wife each year to get benefit of web offers.
