EbonyA3
Hi Just fitted a 2004 look lower chrome grill on my 2001 51 Plate A3, Just wondering what you guys thought of it,I feel it looks good specially on a black car, Before i fitted it i thought it may look tacky but am well pleased with it, Link http://www.tyresmoke.net/gallery/album348/Ebony_A3_Front
stewarta13wsb
I think it looks great - def not tacky - I think it looks 'right' like it was always there by design, and what a smart car - mint!
1ndy
that looks great!! I would like to do that to mine. where did you source the parts from? was it an easy job?
EbonyA3
You have to cut it to fit so is a little tricky, then just stick it to the desired surface with the 3m tape (supplied), i will post the details of the seller retails around £20-25. Done properly it gives a factory look & even makes it look like the late 04- model.

DukeDesmo
Looks good, I don't know what parts you used but, or if the Standard Audi 2004 grill would fit but they only cost £25 from Audi (inc chrome surround) as I found out recently after a recent high speed front grill/pheasant interface. 1ndy
£25!!!!! Thats pretty cheap! does anyone know if it would fit a 2002 a3? whats the part no? thanks
DukeDesmo
Part no is; 8P3807647 this is the lower front grill with Chrome surround for a 2004 A3, invoice price from John Fox Audi in Nottingham, Feb 2006, was £25.05 (inc vat) which surprised me as I was certainly expecting to pay more. I have no idea if it fits the older model though.

EbonyA3
The one i fitted to my 2001 A3 was not an audi original part, so who knows if the genuine audi part would fit as it is made for a newer model with a slightly different shape lower bumper ! The part i fitted to mine is a chrome trim that you cut to fit ,very old school but done properly looks factory

EbonyA3
Email your details to [email protected] The guy who runs it is Matt ,& he will send you an invoice, Takes a little while to come. All you have to do is measure the area you want to put the chrome & cut to fit ,Then heat the 3m tape up with a hairdryer & apply
durtydurty
Would this work on an S3 do you think?, would the foggies get in the way?
1ndy
Fogs are on the outer part of the grille - so it shouldnt affect them!
durtydurty
In reference to Charles earlier post is it best to try the proper part or order from the other guy?, any news on whether the gen Audi one will fit?
DukeDesmo
[ QUOTE ] In reference to Charles earlier post is it best to try the proper part or order from the other guy?, any news on whether the gen Audi one will fit? [/ QUOTE ] If anyone is interested, I've still got the old grill from mine, complete with chrome surround - it has a small section missing in the middle where I hit a Pheasant but the shape is still there and the chrome surround is not broken, so it could be used as a tester to see if it fits, or inded the chrome part might be of use to someone. FOC to anyone who wants it, although you'll need to collect or pay postage.

EbonyA3
Hey..I have got new shape a3 up the road from me & i measured & looked carefully at it & it apears to be a different shape & size to my 2001 a3. The lower grills are also a different shape. Mayby if you modify it it may fit who knows?. The cut to fit kit can look OEM if done properly
