AvantSE
Could someone please tell me how easy it is to lower my 2001 A4 Avant, what is involved/tools needed etc, and roughly what the cost would be for a suspension kit. Thanks.
Soapsuds
keep trying to find the time to do mine! It's relativley simple, especially at the rear as you dont need to remove any components apart from the spring itself! Spring kits vary. Awesome-GTi had Koni's on offer recently for your motor at about £75inc. VAT. Cheapest good spring around. PI and GMax etc. are about 100-120 quid. Get yourself a copy of ElsaWin and ETKA and you get al the exploded diagrams you could ever need and also a walk-through of how to fit. HTH!! AvantSE
Been doing a bit of research, but I am wondering about fitting the springs on their own... I know it won't be as good as with matched dampers, my main concern is that std dampers with short springs may cause them to drop out of the spring platforms. Roughly what would be the fitting cost of a full suspension kit (springs and dampers?). The rears look simple, the fronts look a bit of a nightmare. [/ QUOTE ] Fitting shortened springs to standard dampers won't cause any major problems (unless the springs are really short). You will probably find it will shorten the life of the standard dampers. Ideally you should go for matched dampers and springs. As for fitting, most places charge about £25-£30 a corner.
AvantSE
Ta, think I am going to go for a cheap kit such as GMax or similar, can't really stretch to Konis etc. having just spent a grand on colour coding and a set of 18" RS4 rims.

Paid £120 for fitting. h**p://www.motechdirect.co.uk/motechdirect/content.asp?cat=1140PK&catalog=114002PK&inc=eibach

[/ QUOTE ] eBay - of course, this would be to purchase a copy of the CD's for the genuine licence you already have at home. Purely for back-up reasons as you dont have, nor can get to, a CD-burner.......
