[Audi A3/S3] Changing headlights & rear lights

Thinking of changing my old headlights and rear lights on my 1997 a3 for the newer crystal versions that are on the newer versions. Is it possible to do a straight swap or are bodywork modifications involved?

bit of work unfortunately, you need to remove a small amount of the wing on the inside, you also need to remove the whole front bumper assembly if i remember rightly, could be done in a morning at the weekend, its more down to your confidence at cutting the wing

if i remember correctly theres a guide on another site about it, might be worth doing a quick search through the older posts in this forum for the link

Rear lights i believe are a straight swap.

Front lights not so. Just as sufu mentions, a small fag packet sized piece of the inner wing has to be cut out.

To get the headlights in/out, its a bumper off job.

Is there anywhere i can get the lights other than a dealer?

Search for "rear lights" and you will see that they do a set of facelift A3/S3 rear lights for about 100 squids.
