mccombie_5
Not for me for once, dad's askd me to get a quote for the Vectra online because he isn't online at home. I've got a good start but are there any insurers I should know about? It's a totally standard 1.8 Vectra and dad has full no claims/convictions. simonb
Confused.com seemed expensive to me - sure you can find cheaper by ringing around yourself. My Mrs has been with Tesco last 2 years - miles cheaper than anyone else!
mccombie_5
Cheers will give Tesco a go, confused.com seems expensive to me too. His current insurers (Zurich) have put it up to over £400 so he's changing for his renewal.

cruiser647
Norwich Union and Quote Me Happy campaign, seems to be for the 'older, safer' driver. Useless to me, but never mind!
Brisel
Elephant & Norwich Union. I'd say NU would be cheaper, but leave them if you ever claim. A mate claimed for 4 slashed tyres on his A4 Avant & they bumped up his premuim by 25% despite a protected NCD.
mccombie_5
Cheers folks Anyone used Quinn Direct? I just got a very suspiciously cheap quote off them whilst he was here.... £237, everyone else wanted £400+
cerbera
I've found Direct Line to be very competitive in the past on certain cars.
ChadW
Direct line are ok but if you own a coupe car that has frameless windows like mine or an Audi TT go somewhere else as their Autoglass service can fit the glass but cannot reset the window mech for you. BEWARE!
mccombie_5
Directline, in this case, arent very forgving of his wife's SP30. I told him to leave her off the policy and put me on instead, but no
saab
I use Chris Knott - don't have the details to hand (Google them - Hawkhurst Kent I think) but I've always found them pretty good and they will usually beat/match an online quote.

mccombie_5
Esure didn't come out bad at all actually, £353 compared to his current insurer Zurich who wanted £430 to renew.

Ritey
If you want, HIC Herst Insurace Consultants are worth a try, and if you use "Absolutemini" as a discount code you can get an extra 10% off - phone call only though I'm afraid
sayerbloke
I was trying some websites today because my insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month. DirectLine - £437 Priviledge - £450 Admiral - £451 Prudential - £459 Tesco - £525 Norwich Union - Won't quote me. MoreThan - Won't quote me. ESure - Won't quote me. Whenever I try a site that goes and tries multiple companies [like the one on Autotrader or Hastings or Swinton, etc], the best they came up was always approx £1300! mccombie_5
Cheers Kate I didn't realise autotrader did that! I'll let him know about it, I'll do online but I'm not phoning places for him, I don't mind giving him the number though
