AZURES3
I am about to order the A3 2.0 TFSI S-Line. I really like having Quattro on my Audi's but not sure the 200 BHP engine really needs it. Any views or experiences on this ? I hate driving cars where the front wheels are always fighting for grip but not sure this is the case in the A3 I guess it would be in the wet. I presume the MPG goes down 2-3 with Quattro. AZ
Nelson_R32
Definately get it The car handles great without Quattro but with Quattro it just blows me away!
AZURES3
Is that on your A4 if so I agree I have it too but it is a different setup on the A3 AZ
Nelson_R32
No i'm talking about Golf 5 Platform Haldex. On the Golf 4 platform I felt the Haldex was rubbish (I'd go as far to say dangerous in a TT) but I've driven both A3 and Sportback 2.0T Quattros and its a laugh a minute! simon_evo
I was in the same dilemma and after test driving both back to back I opted for the quattro, If your going to or have any plans to mod/remap the car in the future then I would definitley go down the quattro route. Cupramax
It needs it especially if you're gonna remap it... Nelson, check your PM's mate

[/ QUOTE ] We went for Quattro on my wife's A3 Sportback 2.0T sport, and I'm gald we did - I tend to drive it quite aggressively, and I doubt the front tyres would last 6,000 miles if it wasn't quattro. Superb car! Sidicks
Xedos
I have an A4 2.0TDI sline at the moment as a courtesy car whilst my 2TFSI Quattro gets a new gearbox... anyway its only 140hp and it tries to spin the front wheels coming on boost on roundabouts. Really warming to the A4 though:( rids a lot better than the A3 on the same size wheels! Im sure its the tyres!
CarMad
Got the 2.0T FSI Sportback.. My views, click on the link below. Its not great in the wet I will grant you that but in the dry, the lower weight better breaking makes the raw handling better IMO. Yes it suffers traction issues but not in the dry. Have driven mine hard and its still on its first set of tyre after 13k miles.
Steele
If you don't need the space go for the quattro.
dalepearson
I think it depends on the journeys you will be doing. If your going to be on the motorway and straights most of the time then I dont think its worth it. If your going to be on back roads all the time it will probably be an advantage. For me it will mostly be motorways and straight A Roads, so I went for no Quattro, but DSG instread

Have got both cars and drive both all the time and can't tell the difference regarding the Haldex. Most of the time on both cars you can hardly feel it cutting in and yet on my TT all 4 tyres need replacing at the same time showing just how much the rear wheel drive comes into play. Chassis is quite a lot difference with the newer one felling 'bigger' but lighter. That may be just the suspension setup though. Regarding the Quattro choice, I'd say go for it as things just seem a lot more planted and pulling away is a lot more assured. Also depends whether you want the DSG gearbox or not as well. From memory fuel economy suffers by aroun 4-5mpg.

Fergy
Deff Quattro IMO. Sportback constantly grabbing for traction from junctions and In wet if drop a gear. I wanted DSG 2.0T Q but unavailable. Wasnt gonna fork out for 3.2 (+ depreciation) Good Luck
