bells0
Not sure what material the chrome is that surrounds the windscreen and around the rest of the car? What is best to keep it clean? Mine seems a bit blotchy. Haven't touched it with the Megs Nxt i use for the rest of the car as not sure if right stuff?? Cheers
Phantom
I think the surround is plastic, same as the plastic used on the chrome mirror caps. I have used car polish on mine and they come up fine. I know what you mean about the blotchiness, not sure if it is the effect of the sun or something else
bearra
I thought it was lacquered metal , there are a few edges you can see where the roof latches. I just use same polish as paint
richspeight
On a similar thread... Anyone know how to take scratches out of the metal surround? I don't want to T-Cut (or Brasso!) the metal in case I end up with a shiney finish. That would look muh worse than the not currently too visible scratches. The problem is; I know they're there. So I always spot them!
UBM
The blotchiness is due to your screen wash reacting over time with the metal coating. Megs NXT metal polish is great for the cab windscreen surround and normal car polish for the aluminium window surrounds. BTW - they are metal window surrouns, not plastic. I know this cos the monkeys who sent my replacements to the stealers folded them up to get them in the parts crate!
Chav
I use window cleaner on the surrounds and they come up a treat!
Phantom
After all the hype around Megs, I went out and made my first two Megs purchases at the weekend

[/ QUOTE ] No idea and don't really care - they come up clean and shiny... and the window cleaner doesn't appear to corrode them in any way whatsoever! bells0
Will see what the Mrs has in the cleaning cupboard and give it a go later
UBM
Careful - vinegar is acetic acid. Acid + Metal goes to salt (white ) + water.....
Lynas
Brillo pad with metal cleaner. Then finish off with some turps on the hood and a match. OR auto glym glass polish / anything really really mild and something really soft to apply it.
bells0
Did it with some Glass polish - looks a lot better now - cheers!
