drpellypo
\o/ That's never changed since the DOS days!

drpellypo
What DOS? or VS? I grew up on DOS, and I'm only 23. Still use it a lot now actually. My login script is closely followed by a batch file that was created using the copy con command that swiftly disables all AV stuff/non essential services that the group policy enables every time I log on. shark_90
Never used VS before tonight.. and my DOS stuff is very limited. I grew up on RISC OS, DOS was considered the devil
Mook
Get rid of MS VS and get VMWare instead. Better product and more resilient. MS might be trying to take over the world, but they're beaten hands down by EMC VMWare. We've run this for the past 18 months in our datacentres and the latest version rocks more than something that rocks very hard - like moving virtual servers in real time from one physical server to another, and automatically balancing the server loads based on which VS needs more disk IO or processing time. shark_90
Completely agree.. but the decent features available in ESX you have to pay for. Some stunning features and in an enterprise environment it would be first choice no contest, but I'm currently setting up a domain at home all running from the same Athlon XP2400 box with 768Mb RAM. Not exactly an enterprise!
Mook
Non-ESX version is still free - he says cowering in a corner after Shark's just shouted him down. Learn to motivate people Ben. Come on now. Only another 3 cans of Stella to go before lights out...
shark_90
Yeah I had a look at that last night too, before I installed MS VS. Only reason I didn't try installing that first is because it was getting late and the download was coming down at a measly 22k/sec And it was 170Mb download or something similar. I already had MS VS on my laptop, so I went with that. I've got another poverty spec box here, I might stick VMWare on there and see how I get on with it As for Stella, I'd love a cold one or six but I'm on call this week so it's a no go
