Larder
As title, 5door, black with leather. I did the look around and noticed it was Diamond Black which was a surprise as I thought it was just straight black I had one that was in stock with the stealers so just took what they had. The options were what I would have chosen anyway so very happy. I was a little disappointed on the drive home as the car developed a very annoying rattle from the dash which was not what I was expecting from a car of this price Anyway me and Mrs Larder took a ride to my Mother's who had a fiddle with things on the dash and moved one of the vents which stopped the rattle hasn't returned as yet so well pleased - well done Mum. On the whole very happy with the car. Mpg is showing 21pg at the moment which I hope will improve as the car settles down and I learn to drive it, it is totally different beast to my Civic Type R with the gear shift being the most difficult thing to master (a bit more jerky with this box compared to the Type R) but hey I’ve only done 25 miles!! I will post some pics when I get chance if people are interested?? Carl

Mook
Yes, there definitely should be an aluminium trim covering the ashtray. Courtesy of the TsN Mk5 R32 Gallery: Call 'em up and get it sorted Edit Hang on, you said fag lighter compartment. Where the feck is it? In with where the ashtray is? Says the ignorant Mk4 owner who can't remember from when he took one out...
Larder
Yes that bit in front of the gear stick - There aint one on mine Oh I don't have the arm rest which I know is an option, is the ash tray cover only included with option??
AGK512
I think it's tied in with the centre armrest and or smoker pack ie if it's specced or not

[ QUOTE ] Oh I don't have the arm rest which I know is an option, is the ash tray cover only included with option?? [/ QUOTE ] Should be there regardless of the armrest or the "smoker's pack" - feck, that sounds like you get a free pack of Marlboro with the car... Mook
OK, so maybe that explains it, then. Finishes off the car nicely IMO.

Dunders
Mine doesn't have the alloy in that bit either. Sure I've read somewhere on here that they don't have that anymore. Looks better without imo!
MCollingwood
I picked my car at begining of April, and noticed and posted here that mine didn't have a cover or "Blinged" up horribly cheap looking MAX Power ashtray cover. I was finding out before pickup how much for the GTI nice brushed aluminium one and strips for dash. But as the ashtray bit it not there i can live with the rest of it. As a side note I read a post here about vented rear disks mine has that too!! Maybe a face lift already!!

UKLooney
[ QUOTE ] Mine has the ally cover over the 12V socket (no ash tray) & vented rear discs [/ QUOTE ] Mine too, (no smoking pack) personaly, i don't really like the ally trim in the mk5 (looks chav cheap) and wondered if these were easily changed. Would look vnice in CF i thinks, never seen the GTI trim but this sounds promising too. any idea of cost? anyone know if the existing trim can be covered in CF easily? GTiMK5
There was a link posted in the GTI forum in the last week or so for a place that sold carbon fibre trim. I will have a look for it later if I get a chance.
Larder
I think I will go back to the stealers on Monday and ask, I cant find any thing on the specs that the 12v cover is an option. There seems to be some confusion around this!! Oh for those interested I managed 28mpg on the way to work today which is way better than I managed in my Type R! but only 26 on the way home which seems a bit odd (same route and about the same pace - traffic etc both ways) Also what is the "running in" period? Thanks Carl
BrakeSnake
Hope you're enjoying the R.. Had my MkV since Feb 2nd, manual with Miltek stainless system on it. It has done 5000 miles now and the mid range has really opened up and the engine seems to be a lot more free revving. Had to top it up with some oil finally.. Economy has improved too (not when my right foot drops like a lead weight off a table tho....) Get 29 to 30 mpg average at around 70 to 75 mph on a steady run, 26 to 28 at around 90 to 100, and about 25 in heavy traffic. Most iv'e gotten out of a full tank of Optimax is 270 miles Enjoy the nice weather and the open roads...
