aditz
Hi world, Could anybody tell me if its worth getting a K&N Filter, but just the filter not the Induction Kit. Is it worth it? Oh yeah, one more thing, I got 15" alloys at the mo` will it look stupid with 162 if I don't lower it?? It's got a sport suspension (OEM) so a bit lower then the standard Passat. Feel free to answer...
pugboy
It will only look silly if you go up to 18"s without lowering it. The later sport model came with 16" rims as standard. I thought about getting a K&N panel filter as mine is the turbo. However people have said that fitting them can lead to air flow meter failure so I haven't bothered (its the wife's car so reliability is very important). cruiser647
It might be worth trying to find a replacement air filter that DOES NOT have oil on it. Apparently, it is the air filter cleaning oil that does the damage. Hence look out for non-oily filters. (maybe the 'Green' brand or PiperCross????) pugboy
Working on the theory that its the oil that knackers the MAF then you might be ok with a performance filter. It could be people going OTT re-oiling the filters after cleaning thats the problem.
