IE 7 beta 2

Thought I'd have a look at the latest beta of IE7 after spotting it whilst browsing the Microsoft website.

Downloaded the installation file, installed it and restarted. Now when I try and run IE I get this:

No more IE! Some might say thats a good thing grin.gif but I use it for Hotmail and stuff (Firefox for 90% of my surfing). I guess this means that IE7 beta 2 is not for me?

Anyone else running it on their system? I did a quick search but couldn't find any recent posts on it in this section of TSN!

Si, running it ok here, and have been for 2 days. Did you formerly have xp with all sp's (1 and 2) already patched in? This would seem to be the minimum requirement for the beta version to be able be downloaded successfully. IE7 Beta 2 is very intuitive... 169144-ok.gif

As far as I know I am up to date on all service packs and security patches - IE installation package checked this too when installed. Will remove, run a Microsoft Update and download again then try installing later on! Cheers 169144-ok.gif

Well I discovered that once IE7 b2 was installed, I lost the use of MSN Messenger (wouldn't launch), Explorer (caused an unknown error and crashed) and also Control Panel (same reason as Explorer). Very strange. So booted into Safe Mode and removed IE7 from the Add/Remove programs list that way before rebooting.

Back on IE6 now with no problems (apart from an IE7 display icon), shan't bother with IE7 again methinks, until the final release crazy.gif

I tried to upgrade from Beta 1 to Beta 2 but it won't allow me, needs to be uninstalled first, but there's no where to uninstall it! Typical M$ ROLLEY~14.GIF

I have a nice big "Uninstall IE 7 Beta 1" icon in my Add and Remove Programs folder confused.gif

whats it done to my TFT?

it seems to have changed the font, or added an effect such as clear type (which ive tried in the past and didnt like)

Ive checked to see if clear type is on, and its not, its still on standard.

enabling clear type makes it even worse.

everything seems different. Brighter, or different font, i cant really pin point it, but it does seem harder to read, ie harsh.

Its the second time ive tried IE7 beta ( second after a re-install) and it did the same last time.

any ideas? its definitely changed something frown.gif
