good, i might be able too afford one by then... BMW seems a little slow on this.. I wonder if they are having issues.. I'm pretty sure people might lose patience and go else where.. maybe thats why there is a 335i.. to bridge the gap and act as a stop gap.. something that performance wise will meet the Audi S4.. untill the Daddy gets here in 2008..

Yes thats true, if you look at any non M-Sport BMW they dont look half as good IMO. I always find that i am not keen on the BMW's i see in the press, then after a few months they really grow on me. This has happend with the 3, 5 and the 6, though the 7 has never worked for me!

Yes well i like it. Judging by the bloke next to it the car dosent seem to big either. I was a little worried it would be much bigger than the current 3 coupe which would take some of the fun out of it, but it looks good. I have just phoned up fleet and they are gonna have a word with a few dealers and see what they can do... and when! 169144-ok.gif

I hope it is 2007 - I've put down £1,000 depoist at the local BMW dealer and was told (unofficially) UK launch will be around March 2007....

[/ QUOTE ]

Well that's certainly not going to happen. As Wopps says, September 2007 would be the very earliest you'd be likely to see one, and I'm still hearing it's likely to be 2008 for the UK.

Im dealing with Park Lane BMW. They have told me they are the centre of excellence of the UK and are actually owned by BMW so I am assured they will know more than most, and they are getting back to me this week regarding both planned launch and delivery dates so I will be sure to post as soon as I know more. There are also members on BM3W.co.uk who seem to know more than most so you could have a flick through the pages over there.

Are you going for the coupe?

  • 2 weeks later...

Well they guy I was dealing with has just left the company to live in Singapore so I have been passed on. There was a mess up which I might add is partly my fault with the letter of confirmation and the deposit so now I have dropped 2 places and am now 21 on their list. Its not all bad though as now I don’t have to put a penny down as a deposit and i'll get written confirmation that im 21... 169144-ok.gif

Still the new salesman ive been dealing with says the car could be here anytime, im guessing mid 2009 depending on how many people drop off the list...

There were lists for the SL55 for around 3 years after the car was released and the first cars fetched up to £40k over list!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

rubbish....

MB flooded the market with SL55's after just 6 months of starving it in preference for the SL350/500 models. The early SL55's sold at no more than £20k over list unless you know someone witless fool who paid double that Flush.gif

In the first two years (2002-2004) of production MB made more SL55's than the either the 350 or 500....but not combined.

Unfortunately my mum got I think the second one in the country and bought through Romans and she paid about 35k over list. According to them the first SL55 they sold was 40k over list! In fact it was the SL that made most of these 'premium' type companies. It was the first mass market commercial super car that was as usable as an automatic Micra... And everyone wanted one, no matter if you are a petrol head or someone that had never owned a sports car before (me mum). It is still a truely beautiful car and very very fast!

That’s nothing though! Romans first F430 Spyder went for a staggering £200k! I suppose it all depends if you are buying off an owner or through a specialist such as Romans with a showroom, where you pay the extra for top quality service and as many test drives as you want. 169144-ok.gif

But my point is people do, its a business which at the time the SL came out was positively booming as I said I know for a fact it more than quadrupled the income of Romans and allowed tem to now stock 6 Enzos and millions of pounds worth of stock. I know they wont forget the SL as it made them!

In his post (within this thread) he didn't say that his Mum bought a F430, just the SL55 from Romans.

Unless he'd like to clarify of course beerchug.gif
