Soundwave
Does anyone know if it is possible to perform a frame advance on a sky+ box? It's always bothered me not being able to do this. If not then surely they could have upgraded the software to be able to do this by now. Will the new HD sky+ boxes have frame advance? Thanks. drpellypo
I'm not 100% sure - but the only devices I've seen frame advancing on is VCR's, so I have my doubts that you would be able to do it on SKY. Could be wrong though. Where's Guy when you need him..?
Sparky
The slowest it will go to, is half speed playback so not exactly frame advance.
drpellypo
VCR's, and DVD players I meant to say.
Soundwave
Well I'm sure they could upgrade the firmware to be able to accomodate this feature. You can do it on DVD's and on VCR's but why not on Sky+? At the end of the day, you have to hold down the play button on the sky remote to invoke the slow motion function, so the logical thing to do would be to add some code to allow the pause button to serve two purposes as well, i.e. press pause once to pause, and hold it down to pause with frame advance on each subsequent press. I wonder if there is some technical reason why they can't do it. After all, how many times have you been rewinding or fast-forwarding on the sky remote and then when you press play, it seems to either skip forward or backward from the point you actually stopped it at, almost as if there are digital increments that it uses as markers or reference points. I find that pretty damn annoying as well..
Sparky
Technically, the Sky boxes can do it, but there just isn't the code to control it, and for the vast number of users, there isn't the need for such a feature.

[/ QUOTE ] Come off it, how many times have you been watching fashion tv and needed to get that perfect arse angle!! Seriously, i'm one of those sad anoraks that likes to frame-advance all the slices and dices and mistakes etc. I use it all the time when i'm watching DVD's..
