Cartman
Just wondered if these annoying things I get in my car are normal: Lots of "noise" from the plastic around the ash tray area where the wood trim panel covers the computer port and the surrounding dash around the climatronic area. Can't describe it really - lots of short creeks and squeaks I suppose, gets worse on rough surfaces. Turning the sounds up doesn't detract from it. Do they all do this? Secondly, my old Mk 3 2.0 8V had the gearbox of a tank. The gearbox on the mkiv feels "delicate" and there is an audible clonking noise on changing gear, especially through 1st 2nd and 3rd. You can just feel the clonks through the gear knob. Again, is this common? MKIV 52 plate Golf 1.8T 20V
activa
I assumed that annoying squeaking noise was where mine had been taken apart to have the handsfree kit fitted, obviously not.Yes it drives me mad!!!!!!! The gearchange however,is great when warm, but when it's cold I may aswell be driving an old Alfasud! Recently I have also aquired squeaky suspension and that is really doin' my head in... Cartman
Glad it's not just mine! I was worried it may have had a front ender in a previous life! My friend suggested clear silicone sealant/mastic but that seems like a major mission. But may be worth it though.
