Headerss
Hullo, Anybody have any experience with K&N Flat panel air filter ? http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2209 Ive used them before on Fiats/Alfa's and ran fine, but maybe could damage the MAF sensor? I have a 2.4 B6.
Will22
What are you putting it on/in? I used to have one in my track car(150 TDI golf) but the MAF kept going. Had it on the RR one day and put a new MAF in to see and had 234bhp 384lb/ft, replaced it with VW paper one and had 231bhp 396lb/ft Paper filters are good enough for most cars, even if it has been tuned
Headerss
I have an A4, 2,4 B6. It doesnt really give you that much power, but it gives a nice sound. Anyways, its best i dont fit it, especially since Dubai is extremely dusty.
DanG
[ QUOTE ] Paper filters are good enough for most cars, even if it has been tuned [/ QUOTE ] So long as you keep 'em clean, Hoover it every month or so. Thing about K&N is that it should last a life time, where as every so often at a service you will get a bill for a new paper one..... Over the life of the car, it might be worth the K&N... p.s. you can wash your K&N in the dishwasher too.....easy.
DeanW
I had one on my A4 1.8T, sounded a little better and made the dump valve a bit louder too. Got mine off a guy on Ebay
Paul
another advocate of the standard air filter and box. I am quite well up from standard performance and get good airflow throughput with OEM paper filter (checked with vagcom) i just change the paper filter every 10K or less. They are cheap enough. P_G
On N/A cars I am led to believe they do not make a jot of difference, was thinking of one for the S4 but bollocks to it in the end.

[/ QUOTE ] Yep, complete waste of time - unless you need 0.00000001 extra bhp, like the saxo brigade do.
Will22
You'd be better going down the Loutus route and ad lightness, bit pointless for me as I'm a tad over the "sh!t he's big" bit Friend of mine has a Westfield and it's 2 seconds quicker around Mondello with me on the pitwall
Chav
Always makes me laugh, things like Air-filters.... You get a bigger performance increase by leaving the petrol tank half empty to save weight!
