Dammit!! I knew they'd do it frown.gif

Saloon: £25,605 OTR

Saloon Quattro: £27.030 OTR

Avant: £26.755 OTR

Avant Quattro: £28,180 OTR

The specification of the 2.0TDI 170PS S-line Special Edition is identitcal to the 220PS version with the exception of Cross-drilled front disc-brakes and the black exhaust pipe which are only available on the petrol version.

Think I know what my next cars going to be. 2.0TDi Avant Quattro S-line Special Edition anyone? sekret.gif

Particulalry bad when they baltantly lie to you denying it to get a sale.

I feel sorry for the RS4 buyers who are now finding out that DSG is possibly going to be an option on '07 models.

I've made my own "Special Edition"

Feck Audi. They really treat their customers poorly.

Sir :"Will I be able to order a more powerful 2.0TDI in the future"

To be fair Audi announced they would be using the 170PS 2.0tdi engine in their range nearly a year ago.

It was discussed on the A3 forum on audi-sport in great depth, they even said it would be spring 2006 when it was introduced.

However, Audi UK knew nothing about it and therefore the dealers deny it completely.

Now this would not matter if they just said 'we don't know if if the 170PS tdi is coming out.' rather than saying 'You are a customer and you know feck all, there is no way a 170PS tdi is coming so either buy this car or feck off as I don't really like working and this is too much like hard work'

Sorry to say this but the attitude from Audi UK, in general, is nothing short of shocking, they seem to think they are selling Bentlys or something. No, actually that isn't fair, the local Bentley dealer is a really, really nice bloke, gets genuinely excited about his cars and they also have Audis as there staff cars and seem to know far more about Audi and what it is doing next than the Audi dealer does.

Nelson, what is it you do at Audi? You seem to know too much and have too much of an interest to be dealing with sales and customers.

I thought he worked in sales confused.gif

I hope he does, it justs seems almost far fetched that someone who knows what they are talking about would actually work for Audi sales.

I just got jarred off with dealers, and I guess I am a bit bitter, bought cars from Aston Green, Dulwich and Robinsons Audi and tried to buy more cars from them and they just aren't interested. No calls returned, messages not passed on, lack of knowledge, or more to the point not offering to find out.

It was the service I got while killing 15 minutes waiting for my daughter when I popped into the local BMW centre that really made it apparent how bad they are, and ultimately got me into a BMW.

To be fair to dealers they want to make money. They know as well as we do that something that is due to be launched in 2 months often takes 6 or more before it sees the light of day. There are always new models, engines and all sorts of changes that are coming through its not easy.

Its like when you buy a PC, each month the spec gets better and the price drops but there comes to a point that you just have to take the plunge and buy what is best at that time.

Its up to us the buyer to a degree to do some homework. If your the sort of person that turns up and knows nothing chances are you have a good chance of getting shafted anyway. My best advice to anyone is buy a few months worth of car mags before you buy, you have a good chance of seeing any new models being announced in the news sections and being far more gen'ed up about your purchase.

The 170 2.0TDI (Now fitted with common rail = much smoother unless I have read it wrong) has been a coming soon engine for ages.. its was just a matter of time before they fitted it into more cars. Oh and whilst we are on the subject DSG is also coming out on Longditudinal engines soon, when I don't know but it is on its way, don't say you weren't all warned. tongue.gif

I know what you mean, the service advisors tend to stay with the dealers much longer than the sales guys and hence can answer most queries fairly convincingly.

Not sure how long sales guys get to prove themselves (and whether they have prior experience of selling premium brand cars such as Mercs/BMWs etc) but part of me thinks that some tend to prefer 'being more co-operative' when there is a potentially nice commission cheque on the table, would be interested to conduct an experiment to see how a sales guy treats someone buying a 'base' A4 compared to say an S4. Would be interested to hear how Daz found the 'buying experience on his new RS4 cab coffee.gif

To sell any product you don't have to be a salesperson.

I reckon if you are a nice person and have fantastic product knowledge you will sell!

Have you ever bought a car from someone you do not like?

In saying that I went to look at a Subaru a few years back and the guy bored me to tears with statistics and figures....... put me right off. He would not shut up on the test drive..... SAUER0421.GIFopenfire.gif The guy knew his stuff.

I'd imagine it went something like "This is the price. Theres no discount, you either want it or you don't" grin.gif

Unfortunately I don't work in Sales as I'm considered 'under age' for our insurance, but yes I know what you mean. Theres even people working at my gaff who don't have a clue what they are talking about; my name has been worn out by most of my collegues smashfreakB.gif

I actually work as a Parts Supervisor and I'm also responsible for Retrofit/Accessory items. ALthough I hope to get into Sales as soon as the next person leaves wink.gif

Oh, and the new 170TDi is not common rail, its probably going to be the last PD engine that Audi launch I'm afraid before they switch to common rail for the B8 frown.gif

I thought this engine had piezo electric injectors as per the 2.7 and 3.0 units.

Just found the press release : Combines the piezo injectors with PD technology. I stand corrected.
