Riz
I was on the way to Hull this morning on the A63 when a "53" reg blue vauxhall vectra in the outside lane goes past doing about 75 - 80mph... im in the middle lane poodling along just about the go into the left lane when this white merc van (poor condition) undertakes me and then veer`s across my lane and misses the vectra (now in middle lane) by about 50cm or so. The kid in the back of the vectra looked very scared I was thinking that the van driver was a utter knob when suddenly the vectra puts his foot down and gets infront of the van... van in outside lane.... the van then tailgates the vectra for a good 5 miles..... he couldnt have been any more than 1m away from his bumper..... the car and van are all over the road at this point.... neither willing to give up. I think that they were having a ongoing battle and it started way before they passed me... anyway i continue to monitor their progress as a safe distance.... The vectra has 2 parents and kid onboard.... anyway this goes on for another good 5 miles or so and by this time they have used every lane on the road..... they are in the outside lane when WHAM... the van hits the car and continues to push it alone... we are talking gentle tapping at about ermm 75mph... i was very shocked indeedy the vectra then goes into the middle lane suddenly and then he gives the van driver a nice gesture then then fly off the road onto the sliproad cutting lanes sharply.... Anyway thought I would share that story with you.... Riz

AvantSE
Did you call the police? That is dangerous driving and both drivers would be looking at being charged as a result.

Just wondered [/ QUOTE ] Well I didnt go for the RS4 in the end and decided to carry on working hard and keep my apartment for the time being... so no RS4 it was a wise choice in the end... and I bought a astra for the time being until I get settled again... then back hopefully into a 200bhp+ car... then work up the ladder again. Chav
Thank feck for that. A bit of sanity then! Good choice chap! If it makes you feel better, RS4's are a tad common in certain parts anyhow! ...second only to the cheesy chavshire favourite, the "rage rover sport". Supercharged brick = still slow. .... JamesB
Hell, I've got a Fabia and had an RS6 beforehand. It is far more appropriate for what it has to do than the Audi - doesn't mean I don't miss the old car but you just have to do what is right at the time. NeilB
Should of reported the pair of them for dangerous driving, totally unacceptable from both parties I'm afraid.

Ari
[ QUOTE ] Should of reported the pair of them for dangerous driving, totally unacceptable from both parties I'm afraid. [/ QUOTE ] But would the police really act on this? Maybe if they had enough calls, but I don't believe that if you rang up and described the most horrendous driving imaginable, and car and numberplates, that they would actually do anything about it. Firstly they've got to somehow track down the car (or go to the owners house later and sit and hope he's in or wait for him to show up). Then if they do that, what are they going to say? "We've had a call to say you were driving extremely dangerously this morning, speeding and cutting up other cars and even ramming one". "No I wasn't". "Err, right, sorry to bother you then". They're not even going to bother wasting their time are they, cos there is absolutely nothing they can do.
NeilB
The motorway network does have a lot of CCTV on it, if the ramming incident was caught then a prosecution could possibly be made against them. Also as was stated in the Evo thread by Milo - [ QUOTE ] The Police said had there been a witness, they'd have prosecuted. As it was, they would give him a stern talking to (even though they knew he'd deny it) and it would be logged against him. If any further complaints were made against him, witnessed or not, my complaint would be taken into consideration. [/ QUOTE ]

It's never as clean cut as what you say, otherwise 9 out of 10 court cases would always be thrown out on their first day. If you've been annoyed by an idiot on the road wouldn't you want the law to turn up on his doorstep and give him a warning, i would.
Ari
I just don't imagine the police operate this way, tootling meekly round to "tell off" a motorist every time somone upset calls in to complain about someone else.
NeilB
It depends on the seriousness of the case I suppose, overtaking on a crest of a hill as in Milo's case, Mad man doing 80 in a 30 and ramming the back of a car at high speed would probabaly warrent a vist from plod. Cutting someone up on a roudnabout wouldn't though.
