benjie
Hi guys, I've turned my Golf into a Bolf! I'd appreciate your opinions on it and what (if anything) you would do to improve the overall look of the car. I've tried to put the pics on the gallery, but my computer skills are dodgy at best (if someone could send me a PM with instructions for the gallery, that'd be nice!) Anyway, here is the car, hope you like...

Tobes49
Reminds me of the days you used to put jetta headlamps in the mk2 golf. Because the square rally headlamps were to expensive.
R32Ash
Looks good. It's not really a question of whether others like it anyway is it? You've done a nice conversion, making your car different without chavving it up! Good on you.
shao_khan
Looks excellent - top work, cars looking good. Need to paint them rubbing strips next......xenon conversion.....
benjie
Thanks guys for all your replies because yes, half of it is "if I like it" but I don't want my "vw community" - sounds stupid, but other clued up vw drivers - to dislike it because I would like it if other knowledgeable people appreciated it. Which you all seem to, which is good! As for a Xenon upgrade Shao Khan, they should have arrived yesterday (Saturday), but didn't, so they'll be going on when they turn up. And the bump strips - I find that they compliment the black seals around the doors/windows really well on my indigo blue car, so I'm going to leave them. But I expect I'll encounter a lot of 'GT spec snobbery,' so they may need doing. And if they do get done, the front/rear valances will need doing too! I'm also toying with the idea of new nozzles, giving me a re-mapped total of 140bhp-ish, but I'm worried I'll kill the engine, and I can't find anyone experienced who I can have a face-to-face discussion with Argh! Anyone with any idea/opinion/help(!) on the subject would be greatly appreciated!
shao_khan
There is a VW Tech who works at one of the dealers I think in cheshire (I cant remember which one now) but he was runnign bigger injectors on his passat with remap and showing pretty decent gains. IF you want to chat to him PM me and I can give you his name - you might just haev to ring a few dealers!
benjie
Actually, it's ok. I've been speaking with a tuning company who can give me 135ish bhp from a re-map alone! And for £275! Will this kill my clutch though?
shao_khan
It depends how the power is delivered TBH. Some of the maps give you a huge ammount or Torque early on, they feel real quick, but the delivery can cause some issues with clutchs (usually on 150 model cars tho), whereas some tuners maps give you almost exact copy of the power/torque curves of the stock car, just more of each. Fatcat on here had his old A3 done initially by APR (I think) and then went to Oettinger and really rated the Oettinger one and didnt suffer clutch slip afterwards. Worth looking around. benjie
Food for thought. The guy is from chippeduk.com - good reputation in the bmw community, getting good in the vag community. He says customer satisfaction is his main aim and you'll get a refund if not totally happy (including petrol money for your travel costs too I think!) He sais about 135bhp on my car and an extra 65nm of torque. Is that good? He says he can avoid smoking using a few tricks in the mapping he knows.
