Mollox
Especially as you keep seeing used R32s at £27/28k, this is just incredible... Description: Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 Evolution VIII 4 Door Saloon Drivetrain: 5 speed Manual 1997 cc Petrol Colour: Silver Registration: 2006 '55' with 1 Registered Keeper Mileage: 100 miles Price: £18,995 Just look at this for a 340! Description: Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 Evolution VIII FQ MR340 4 Door Saloon Drivetrain: Manual 1997 cc Petrol Colour: Gunmetal Grey Registration: 2005 with 1 Registered Keeper Mileage: 6,500 miles Price: £23,995 These are all from the Mitsubishi website, but this on with 2 registered keepers and 800 miles seems a bit odd: Description: Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 Evo VIII MR FQ340 Saloon Drivetrain: 1997 cc Petrol Colour: Silver Registration: 2005 with 2 Registered Keepers Mileage: 800 miles Price: £24,999 On a grins per pound basis that's got to be unbelievable. Mollox
They're actually, given my circumstances (I don't use my car for work, do comfortably less than 10,000 miles a year and only really use the car for fun) not such a bad idea Does anyone know an evo friendly insurer with online quoting where I can get a quote and have a chuckle? My "local" dealer only seems to have the FQ

DHA
Dealers wont let you testdrive anything above the FQ320. Insurance for me was £1500 per yearm boxster is £1000 for comparison.
NewNiceMrMe
They're incredible value for money, or perhaps better put as punch per pound sterling. The saying 'Good golly Mr Molly' springs to mind. I'd still not buy one though.

[/ QUOTE ] Just did a fully comp quote on a 2005 MR FQ 320, at £22k, 6k per year, with a randonly selected security device, ie tracking £717, kept on driveway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was with Egg. I've done similar type quotes with different cars and different insurers and they all seem pretty reasonable.

Buying cars is easy / chaep, its running them thats damn expensive and EVOs are very expensive to run!
Jon
IIRC there is an Evo running cost calculator on a forum somewhere. Amazing fun but i recon you could probably buy a Fezza 355 and run it cheaper than an Evo on the milage you do. The insurance would probably be cheaper too. Erp, her we are How to spend a small lottery win quickly Jon.
Mook
Heart = EVO FQ340 and mental fun Head = Service and maintenance costs No can do as a daily driver, but I def get your point about how cheap they are. But then Subaru's current promo is order any car before the end of September and get up to £3K of fuel. So that's an Impreza WRX STI at about £27K plus £3K of free fuel. So that'll last about four months then...

shark_90
Molly - try that website I posted about last week. Nearly 1/3rd of my renewal price (2700 down to 1100) www.ecarinsurance.co.uk For "normal" stuff I don't think they're that competitive, but for difficult cases (like me) and silly cars, I think they're worth a shot. Mollox
[ QUOTE ] Are you trying to insure a LHD on spanish plates [/ QUOTE ] No, that would have been about £700 again Its the lack of No Claims thanks to the Spanish policy (and perhaps the make/model lol) that are causing the issues
Mollox
I have 4 or 5 year's no claims. Over there
Mollox
More like it, Admiral: All prices quoted include insurance premium tax Car quoted MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VIII MR FQ-340 2004-2005 1997cc 4 DOOR SALOON Manual Pe Search date 31/07/2006 Protected NCB No Years NCB 4 Admiral £1414.35 Excess £250 That's providing I can somehow transfer 4 year' NCB internationally. That's cheap
Mollox
Anyway, I don't think I'm seriously considering one - I just don't know what I want (or indeed when I want it) so just looking at all sorts of random things. The bills don't scare me that much. I'd be looking at 8,000 miles p.a. as things stand. That cost calculator reckoned £4,223 of which £2,000 was insurance, £400 Tyres (bargain), £420 servicing and the rest on fuel. Doesn't sound that bad? Mook
It's only feckin money. Not only do you know you want to. You know you have to as well... Feck the insurance premium, think what you're saving over buying an R32 second hand
Mollox
Well yeah, there would be that too. Circumstances are never likely to be better (no kids etc) so there's a temptation to go silly. But then there's surely sillier. A £12k skyline could be just as much fun etc. Few priorities to get straight first though
Mook
FFS, make your mind up. At least you're looking at cars from the same country New S3 will arrive sometime in 2009 going by the current lack of anything from Audi and I'm not a fan of the Mk5 R32. I can't find anything I want right now to replace the Mk4 R32, unless it's Japanese, has a big fat turbo on it and stupid spoilers (but apparently you can get very subtle spoilers these days).
