OPTIMA
Hi Guys, I have attached a picture of the new S3 I found whilst trawling the net, I think it looks great. I have also attached a couple of pictures of my 2.0T S-Line
Phil84afc
That does look good but the colour and the alloys look shite.
Wallachie
Top find OPTIMA!!! Looks pretty boring though, and those wheels are just hideous! I'll definitely not be forking out £30k for that.
david_d
That is one of the official pics, apparently http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=26417 more details due this week. They haven't taken it far enough
kermitfrog
Yawn Interior however looks like a nice place to be. Anyone think that Audi are deliberately toning down the looks in order to make room for an RS3 or am I just having a crazy moment of wishful thinking?! Phil84afc
Must agree, interior looks lovely...
Srcoates
Ok, here we go... I think I am going against the trend but I think it looks really good. It is understated, without risking becoming un-noticed... If I could afford it, my name would be down!
S3Rob
I've got to say I think it looks really good. It's just the right balance of subtlety with a hint of agression at the front. Just like a fast Audi should be IMO. Also 0-60 in 5.7 seconds Sounds like they have kept the weight down after all, as the 3.2 is about 0.7 slower and only 15 bhp down. Colour looks nice in those photos but might drown a bit in the real world. That RS4 style steering wheel is very nice . Wonder how much it will cost? Also the base price in Germany translates to about £24,500, so add a bit of British rip off and I reckon you get to about £26,995 as promised. kermitfrog
It's not that it's a bad looking car... it's just so bland, especially for an 'S' model. Where's the subtle aggression of my S3? Audi - must try harder
david_d
It is bland, if you think about what they've actually changed on the exterior. Front Bumper Skirts Rear Skirt Door mirror covers THAT'S IT. The rest of the car has the very same panels is an A3. All the above is also the difference between a regular A3 and S-Line, except for door mirrors. Someone mentioned elsewhere that the reason the car is silver is because it shows the lines better and makes the shadow from the arches appear bigger when they are actually the same size as the standard A3 panels. S3Rob
I personally don't think it is bland, but I'd rather they conentrated on what's under the bonnet anyway. Fact is the engine's pistons, conrods, injectors and more are uprated, plus more aluminium in the front suspension and elsewhere. They've obviously kept the weight down as it has a very healthy 0-60 sprint and I think they've done a very nice job of the interior. Audi were never going to change every panel - it would cost far too much to build and the price would undoubtedly increase. Good effort I say. I've had a deposit on since Jan and I'm pleased with what they have done visually - or though obviously it needs to drive well which we don't know yet. Slightly dissapointed that first orders don't get here until Jan - another delay is not what this car needs!
billy2shots
Nice to see the Euros to pounds doesnt add up. Again we pay a bit more (tax?). As a driver the most important thing about a car is the tech stuff which all sounds good, along with what its like to sit in and drive. Sure we all like a great looking car but its not the be all and end all. If it was we would all drive Alpha's. Our fears about a re-map of the normal engiene have been eased with all that uprated "stuff", and 0-62 in 5.7s hell yeah. Well done Audi for keeping it sub £30k (i know options will take it to early/mid 30s). I was told a year after launch there may be DSG available, anyone any thoughts. S3Rob
Haha, I noticed Audi UK had the press release on their own site this morning, but they have now taken it off again. I wonder if someone reminded them that the info was supposed to be embargoed until tomorrow.

david_d
The question is this...at least to me... Does the S3 seem a more attractive proposition than a 2.0T MKII TT with all the trimmings? I have to say no, it doesn't. Especially for current A3 8P owners.
Mollox
Well there's no danger of me even considering a new TT. Does that mean I will be *heaven forbid* waiting for the mythical TSN Lochness Monster....the RS3???
david_d
I don't see it ever happening, not with the 8P. The 8P is what? nearly into it's 4th year? and the S3 won't be in customers hands until 2007. And RS3 would be 9you would think) close to 35k, that's Boxster money for a 3dr hatchback. I know people may think Audi have held back with this S3 design, but I put that down to lazy half ass design.

CabGirl
I'm generally not a fan of the new front end but that looks good - we'll need to replace the TT as some stage (it’s knocking on 50k miles) and that looks like a possible contender.
