sufu
Evening all Does anyone have any experience of insuring a Cat D repaired car? I've been wondering how much it would affect the insurance, as I've spotted something rather special thats just about affordable, but if the insurance cripples me then its definitely a no-no
R32North
[ QUOTE ] Evening all Does anyone have any experience of insuring a Cat D repaired car? CAT Ds are allowed to go back on the road so fro a technical standpoint the car is road worthy when fixed to the appropriate standard. Insurance Jon is your best bet on TSN. sufu
Will do, they don't open until 9am tomorrow though Edit: This is what I'm considering: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MERCEDES-C32-AMG_W...bayphotohosting Edit again: I'd have to keep it for at least the next 5 years to really be able to afford it, but look at it
a4andy
Err.....the front wheels are straight but the steering wheel is about 20 degrees to the right. Just an observation, might mean nothing, but you don't wanna buy 5 years of heartbreak.
colinbmw
Was in the exact position as you, didn't get the car in the end, as someone else got there first. But, I did a lot of research on it, and it seems there is between little and no increase in insurance, but you will get less than a "normal" car if it is written off. One of the links I came up with was: http://www.carinsuranceonline.org.uk/totallosswriteoff.html i searched write off insurance on google and msn and came up with lots of info, i believe the vosa site describes the differences in write off categories. The steering wheel thingy means nothing, you can't relate the picturs! good luck its a beautiful car.
sufu
Thanks for the info. I think i'm going to leave it anyway, you can pick up C32 AMG's for around £15-18k depending on mileage and spec, so its probably a better idea to wait a couple of years and get one when i can afford the real deal
